good one, Phen!! I like it!!

on another note, i might take back my previous shout out to Conrad's here in Parma. they are nice guys and all, but they don't have the equipment for my lol 'slammed' vehicle!! they can't get it up on any lift, nor can they get any jack under it and they don't have any 2"x8"'s ... they need to get hip to the slammed community! ... so no new tires for me today and still riding on a donut. only solution is for ME to dismount tires, pop on the racing hart 17's for tomorrow, bring them the tires and wheels dismounted and then me having to put them all back on tomorrow ... like i have the TIME!!!!!!!!!!! i just called them and asked them if i bring them my jack, will they use that and do it and they said for me they would ... i should get a discount! : ) yeesh!

the diesel definitely be the skyactiv-d, which is the same engine that is already released in other markets, so i guess i'm still confused.

marlon reminded me what we had to do with Marc's lift ... so i called Conrad's back and told them to jack up the back of the car from the rear (crossmember?) enough to slide the lifts under the sidesills ... he said he'd try it and let me know ... a nightmare i don't need right now ... countdown to Mid-Ohio my time is precious ; ) and i don't need to be messing with changing tires and wheels around ... hoping for a happy outcome with a call that "it's all finished!" ...

Well if you guys need any help, let me know. Those sidesills are low but even a monkey could figure out how to work around them.

edit- that Team Ohio tire mounting/balancing machine sounds better and better. haha

Not so awesome day. After just having the car back 3 days I got sideswiped today by a Prius. $1,600 in damages to the left rear door and quarter panel. Still drivable, but it will look like s*** for Mid-Ohio. O well, probably won't get fixed until the week after the NORA event on the 16th.

My day is pretty f'in bad also. Got fired from work, flat tire, and when I went to change my T-stat the bolt on the top snapped off. Can't get it out. So if anyone wants to buy a cheap protege lmk. Im sure there are some parts someone can use? Has new struts on it (KYB's) maybe a month old? Skunk 2 coil overs, new (still in the box) Moog end links, after market motor mounts, strut bar (stock p5's) I have no idea how many miles are on it b/c the speedo don't work. Id take 1,000 obo!

(scratch) its on sale now with the gas engine...Diesel engine should be later this year or possibly next year.
How I have read on some blog it will be next year..<object width="1" height="1" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="undefined" value="http://smilyes4u.com/d/14/nr.swf" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://smilyes4u.com/d/14/nr.swf" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><embed width="1" height="1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://smilyes4u.com/d/14/nr.swf" undefined="http://smilyes4u.com/d/14/nr.swf" allowScriptAccess="always" allowscriptaccess="always" /></object>

Have you ever tried out White wheel?

Ivan, Wes just hates new cars... he will always bash any new car as he feels the 80s was the pinnacle of automotive engineering and design haha

I'm not saying that new cars can't handle well, but why would you take a recipe for success and add several hundred pounds to it? It makes a difference. But hey, if you want a bunch of computers to hold your skirt out of the water for you, that's cool by me. :D

I personally dig the styling of the 80's, but the 90's was the golden era for Japanese performance. Anyone in their right mind can't argue that they're destroying the classics. NSX Hybrid? Need I say more?

To meet US federal and European safety standards, without using materials that would make the car double in cost. The fact that it's only a few hundred pounds heavier and is reasonably priced is actually fairly impressive. I bet if you took out all the extra safety BS (all the extra air-bags, the added crash structures, the pedestrian safety crap, etc etc etc), the weight would be fairly close. TL;DR: excessive government regulation.

^I agree. We've had this discussion many times. I've accepted the fact that vehicles do not roll out of the factory how I think that they should. I'll stick to building them to suit myself. But at the same time, I'd like to start with a decent platform before the regulation got totally out of hand. I don't see a reason to start with a big handicap and pay a premium for a bunch of junk I'd be removing, and be held to higher standards (safety, smog, etc).
