The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I think making the sc pulley smaller would do the same thing to the PS pulley. I'm just saying the larger pulley is easy to find the proper dimensions, taking material off the SC pulley seems like more work. Iirc that pulley is not solid metal and you might only be able to remove so much before you have to change crank pulley any ways

oh i wonder if it actually is solid or not.... more research to come.

and amaff they make them smaller for the m62 v1 and v2, but not really the v3. the v1 and v2 were the ones used on the 3800 series gm motors and other american cars, the v3 that we use are totally different and aftermarket pulleys are not common. i remember seeing them one time but it was on a german website and i cant remember where i found it :(

Having never seen the pulleys I don't know, but could you get a v1 or v2 pulley and re-drill it to work on the v3? In my head this should be a simple operation, but like I said, I'm not really familiar with them.

yeah i thought it would be a simple thing to do as well but here is the issue.

v1

how it looks on the sc

it mounts just right to the spline since the supercharger runs all the time.

heres the version me and JT have

the biggest issue is the electromagnetic clutch. the electromagnet is engaged through a switch, and both the plastic plate on the end, and the pulley have to be magnetized to make it work. a pulley withouot that part would never work. we could always do this, but we would lose the clutch.

ah, gotcha. It's always something. Just get an older style supercharger, problem solved. Duh!

See that's the issue with the smaller SC pulley, but I have the larger CP in my parts pile now... That's why I said measurments would be easy to get for you. I personally don't want to have the SC on all the time, I like the idea of it being on a switch.

lol exactly amaff! im gonna get one and mount that s*** right on the valve cover! lol.

and yeah the switch is a great thing to have. i love it on the expressway.

and i didnt even think about that. but what does yours push, 9.5psi? thats what i remember cres saying. i dont think my poor old motor could deal with that power :(

im focusing on getting it running right. i think thats just what im sick of. im not doing a single mod until i can buy an ssafc. i sold the mpi tuner for 116, and i have a front mount yet to get hooked up, an intake manifold that im following in evans footsteps with, and i have access to machines to grind down my pulley. ill get the ssafc on, tune it, and then add mods, then tune, etc, etc. i wanna have a car that runs right. im gonna reduce some pre load on my coilovers, lift it about a half inch, and fix the problems. i already started on the problem fixing today. replaced a fuse for my windshield wipers, tightened a squealing belt, replaced my battery, and adjusted my rrfpr. the car already feels better. i just need to stop going crazy on it and understand that itll be a while til i can get a daily and turn it into the track car i want it to be.

Welcome to my world for the last year.

Wow I really need to get my ass in gear for the autoX season. Only a couple more weeks left and I have a lot to do yet. Down pipe studs, adjust rear sway bar, Rcomps, refinish the other 3 wheels, FINALLY hook up my oil pressure guage, and paint the interior trim and gauge cluster.

^lol I'm in between classes right now. I wish I could work on my car in the parking lot, but I don't think that would fly.

Just want to put this out there for anyone who is interested, I am going to be dismounting my Yokohama AO48's from my RPF-1's in a couple of week, they're 235/45/17., they've seen a few track days and now are pretty much slicks now. Anyone who wants them, can have them for nothing.
