The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Hey Will,

Sorry I haven't been in much to answer you. Sorry to hear about the blown shock as well. To be honest, I ran the shock until it had no more oil to leak, I believe...and then sold it (the set) to Larry and he is still going strong with it, I think, LOL! SO I wouldn't worry too much. Of course, I didn't do any performance driving with the blown shock, but still... you'll be okay. I must've drove 15,000+ miles with it blown. In fact, I didn't ever take a good look at it. Larry might know better about the condition of my struts/shocks.

I'm loving my BC coilovers, for sure. No complaints whatsoever, unless you can call rubbing on the plastic inner liner in the front complaining cause my car settled more than I expected and I iz now slammd!

Side note: Justine's new ride has a little funk soul brotha in it! Check it out now! (lame Fatboy Slim reference)

Chippy...you are DEFINITELY slammed!! It looked really good at your party. I wanna see how it rides!

Congrats Justine! Let's slap 4 turbos and a supercharger on that thing!!!

congrats Justine on the new ride!

I'm thinking I should've gone with a SSAFC instead of the Haltech, can't seem to find anyone that will tune it here. I thought I had a guy lined up but I haven't heard from him since may and the shop he was gonna do it at (he's independent but rent's their dyno to tune) won't tune it either.

I'm getting a clicking noise on my driver's front, I think it's the brake pad cause it goes away when I hit the brake pedal and on turns. Gonna look at the vac leak today and maybe get that solved.

Check your CV joints.

That's what I'm afraid of

Yeah, the real crappy thing is the cost of the whole axle. However, with everything you've already done on the car, you know they're not hard to get out.

Had something rather interesting happen on my way to work this morning... About 50% of the time in the morning there is a cop sitting in a driveway right by the Ohio Turnpike/I-77/Brecksville Rd. interchange.

Today as I drive by he pulls out behind me which is fine because I wasn't speeding or anything. I get in the middle lane to turn left onto W. Snowville Rd. and the cop slows down and very nearly comes to a stop in the road right next to me. Then about 2-3 minutes later (there was a long line to turn left), he does the exact same thing on the other side of the road. Apparently, there was something interesting about my car to this guy.

Yeah, the SSAFC is a really nice package and comes with damn near everything you need. Everything except the WBO2. Haha. Like Marlon said, the AEM is one of the best WB's out there for the money. There are other nice ones, but for the budget minded souls, it's probably the best choice.

Wiring the SSAFC isn't too bad. It's a helluva lot easier than say... building a Megasquirt from scratch.

I did have a question though. Do you have a boost controller of any sort? If so, which one?

Running stock boost as of now. I'm trying to stay within the limits of STX and she still is my DD.

Good move. In that case, you really aren't going to need anything else regarding the SSAFC. Do you at least have a boost gauge? I'm wondering if you have any boost creep at all.

Yep have a gauge. Buzzes around 6-7 psi. Feels like it is there one second, then I make a turn and it doesn't come back as well and takes longer to build.

We're having a little get-together this sunday at the house if anyone wants to come over and hang out. Grill some food, drink some liquids, light wrenching, the usual. :)

I found the source of my clicking noise, 4 of the 5 lugs were loose on my driver's front. Not sure how that happened since I used an impact gun to put them on but went around the whole car to make sure all were nice and tight. Cheap fix but kinda scary at the same time.

No torque wrench?

My cordless impact doesn't get my lugs even close to tight enough.

You should still torque them down and after driving for about 50 miles or so, check them again to be safe.
