The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

So, browsin for p5's on auto trader today at lunch, I come across one at Vandevere here in town. Not much info on it yet, must've just gotten it in. I knew I wouldn't be interested in it, because they probably would've wanted an arm and a leg (price wasn't listed) but I figured I'd stop down and test drive it for s**** and giggles...get a feel for the car(s)

I get there, and it takes the saleswoman about 20 minutes to even FIND the car. She pulls it up, and I was speachless....I couldn't believe they would even advertise this thing!? I must've gotten traded in earlier today or last night or something, it still had plates on it and stuff in the interior. Dents all OVER the car, it was in an accident (I noticed aftermarket parts), strut towers were rusting, inside the doors were rusting, quarter panels were gone...just completly gone, interior was trashed, shifter felt like it was submerged in wet cement it was so stiff to move...just a real piece of work!

I didn't even drive it, didn't want that POS to be my first driving experience with these cars and give me a bad impression. LOL

dude you can GLADLY join the Iffy list, i know for DAMN sure i dont wanna be on it, and frankly im pretty confused why i am....
 
Yeah, I'm not sure how I got you on the list either...I think it was a whole "play-on-words" situation. Ya know, theJeans, Levi, wears a lot of plaid--i dunno

or you're just plain iffy...

hey i wear jeans every day to work, so on weekends im rocking shorts as long as the weather permits, not my fault one of my favorite pair of shorts are plaid LOL

and its all good chippy... im comfortable with who i am and could care less if you wanna have me on the iffy list, its all good haha
guess i shoulda put part of my comment earlier in pink text haha

Jeans to work must be nice. I rock a goddam sweater vest 90% of the time and a pair of dress slacks. I dress for success.

I've learned that vests protect you from things. Life vests, protect you from drowning. Bulletproof vests protect you from being shot. Sweater vests, protect you from..pretty girls.



On another note, I sprayed a nut with PB Blaster, and it dissolved the friggin hex pattern on it, so now it's just round and the wrench turns freely... Awesome. Looks like I'm goin shopping tomorrow.

Edit: This is the bolt and nut I need, it connects the hub/steering knuckle to the lower control arm. It's 14mm on each end, but I don't have any other measurements atm. Where do you guys get replacements, or are all of your cars new enough not to have major league rust? Home Depot Racing, Summit, stealership, etc?

I rock jeans to the office, but you have to do it right to pull it off. My work is a business casual, but a few people (myself included) can pull off wearing jeans in that environment... Go go Men's Warehouse and their suggestions.
 
I pretty sure that you just need to take the nut off then tap the bolt through with a mallet (if I can remember from when I did that my control arms last fall). The bolt is lined with groves to keep it from spinning.

I had that problem when replacing my wheel bearings, I left it up to the shop. I assume they went to the stealership for the the bolt unless NAPA carries it (that's who they use for parts most of the time)
 
you could always just check the dealer for the part, and then just cut it off with a dremel. had to do that for 3 different endlinks on the protege...

I just had to cut all 4 endlinks off of the Miata. I hate doing that. Why can't Mazda put never-seize on those damn things from the factory?
 
Morning...I'm wearing jeans and a polo as I type. The 'perks' of working in a Corporate "warehouse".
 
yeah i normally wear jeans and a polo or button up, and on the few occasions like today rocking an under armor hoodie haha

i dont deal with clients and there are times i have to go spend in the lab learning to classify soils so its pointless to wear nice clothes, then change to go classify soils and then change back, so as long as clients arent coming in boss' are cool with alot.... and if a client comes in, we normally have a day's advance, so as long as i have a button up or polo and a nice pair of jeans (no rips, tears, frays etc) then they dont care
