The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Damn it jeff I wish I would have known about the sway bar. It's sold now to someone. It's impossible to keep track of all the people that want stuff unless they PM me. When someone sends money, I gotta give it to em.

ill vote for you... so you'll atleast have 1 haha :P

Noice!

Ah, alright...I'm still on the fence as well. I've got brand new MSP end links in the hatch awaiting re-install of the stock rsb so if I go with the Progress, I'll need to sell those and either buy the P5 links or some form of adjustable.

What bar are you running now?

I was going to use my MSP endlinks on the progress bar. I don't see why you couldn't. I have the stock Racing Beat swaybars. 25mm front, 20mm rear.

Me too! I really do love your car, Steve. I went out and humped it in the middle of the night. Twice.

Not creepy at all. lol

Thx, b.

i'll vote for you...i never vote on the motm, but since you're from ohio, i will!

hells ya, lol.

Like when you offer parts to your good P5 buddy, and he says he wants them, then changes his mind, then wants other parts, then changes his mind again? ;)

i bet you can't vote twice...i really like that black p5 (i want a p5 sooooo bad, but i feel that they are overpriced for the miles they have on them...but i still dream of owning one!)

i'll still vote for you, ucMP3...ohio pride!

Damn....but no worries. As they say "you snooze you lose". That was a helluva deal too.

My understanding is that with the car lowered I'd want the stock P5 endlinks for an aftermarket bar but need MSP endlinks for the stock bar......that's what my research has found anyway.

Jeff, my P5 was lowered on S-Tech's with the Tokico HP struts and I had a number of swaybar/endlink combos:

Stock P5 endlinks/Stock P5 swaybar
AWR endlinks/Progress swaybar
Stock P5 endlinks/Progress swaybar

I didn't have a problem fitting any of them although the AWR endlinks were noisy and I actually bent them slightly. I ran the last setup for over a year w/o any problems.

Are the stock p5 endlinks longer than MSP endlinks?

So aftermarket bar and stock bar, what do you consider the racingbeat bar to be?

I want to say they're shorter but I'm not sure...

If the RB bar is on a MP3 or MSP I would say it's stock, otherwise I consider it aftermarket. IMO, to run the RB correctly on a P5 or a regular sedan you need the MP3/MSP rear subframe and endlinks. The Progress bar design is identical to the stock P5/ES swaybar, just thicker so I would recommend using the stock endlinks. I personally think it would be a downgrade for anyone with a MP3 or MSP to switch to a Progress bar (RB is a better design).

You can run the RB swaybar without the MP3/MSP rear crossmember if you use clunk fix brackets, since it doesn't use the stock mounting locations.

I've been running the RB rear swaybar with the sedan cross-member. Heck, I even used the ES endlinks and bushings/brackets.

Ah yes, forgot about that.

Honestly, this setup would scare me no matter how long it's served you. Simply put, that was not the configuration for which the bar was designed. The RB bar should not easily fit into the ES/P5 brackets and bushings and I know the MP3/MSP brackets/bushings do not line up correctly on the sedan/P5 subframe...

dude hes got an intercooler thats not hooked up to anything, you really think hes worried about what something was designed for??

sorry i had to hahahaha

yeah, yeah, yeah. I hear ya. Anytime you wanna see how the thing handles, just let me know. I can go around corners with the best of ya.

I don't doubt it handles better than stock; it's the setup the worries me. You're stuffing a bar 3mm larger in diameter than stock into the stock bushing/bracket and you're using endlinks that were not designed to be used with that particular bar. I'm really surprised nothing has failed yet. Hell, when I incorrectly installed one of the AWR endlinks I sheared one the swaybar mounting brackets that came with my Progress bar!

Wanna test the RX-7? :p

I don't have the stock endlinks anymore, I made a set last fall. They are adjustable stainless steel shafts with chrome molly ends and if I remember, we had to dremell the bushing to make the bar fit. I do have brand new bushings/brackets that I need to put on one day.

My P5 might be up for sale in a few months depending on how fast the part out gets done :D
