The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

I wouldn't be so concerned with the body being separated like that, although it IS still concerning. My.main concern would be the integrity of the rebuild. How can he trust that they know what they're doing in rebuilding a motor? They obviously don't have the machinery to take care of the block, crank, heads, etc., and will have to farm that work out, so how is he to trust THAT shop with their work? There's only like, 3 engine shops up that way, and i've heard horror stories from all of them.

His luck would be, this would happen again after his.warranty expires in January, and the truck would have to sit for a few years while he saved up enough money for a new motor.

I think that just means it's time to unload it and get a MS3 right?

who's to say he trades it on another car and the new car develops major issues? look im not saying thats gonna happen, but there is always a slight level of uncertainty with ANY car... it could be perfect today and pop tomorrow (again im not saying that will happen as its pretty rare, BUT its still just as possible as something getting f***ed up in the rebuilding of his motor)

if i were him, id start pushing to A) make sure i know what the hell is going on with my car... B) push to find out what shops will be working on it, and if i dont approve i will push for it to go to a shop i do approve of.

not saying that will work but standing around freaking/spazzing out wont do s*** to change the uneasiness either

Still his top choice in a replacement!

True story!

I personally would rather take my chances on a brand new car though, as opposed to a questionable rebuild. lol

im just playing a little devils advocate...

but for reals, if i were him, id be pushing to get details from the dealership and trying to push for a reputable shop to rebuild... not saying it will happen but atleast you tried

Hopefully he'll find out more tomorrow when he takes his DD in for service.

It'd be nice if he was just getting a brand new LS2, that would've eased his.suffering a little bit. haha

I saw the snow here in Brecksville too. However, it's stopped and the roads are already drying... still stupid April.

Y'all don't have Lowes Depot / Ace in Ohio?

They don't have much metric hardware. Thank goodness we have an account at work with McMaster Carr and I can hold his hand and order his bolts for him. These kids these days... lulz.

ps- Josh, if I were Juan, I'd be pissed. Come to check up on my car and it's completely dismantled and parts everywhere. Yikes.

I get stuff like that from Fastenal. Lowe's/Home Depot/Ace never has what I need.

Fastenal wouldn't help me when I needed a handful of nuts/washers to put the factory header on the P5, said they only sold in bulk, like bags of 50? So they directed me to a mom and pop nut and bolt place in Barberton, and they had everything I needed.

I think it really depends. I went in there the other day and bought just 1 nut and 1 washer. But when I was looking for grade 8 hardware for my harness installation project they made me buy a whole bag of nuts/washers because they had to order them.

They did the same to me, that small place must be making a good deal of $ from referrals, LOL!

Lowes Depot doesn't have a lot, but they have really common stuff, which should be all you need to put a block on an engine stand. At least, all the ones around here do.
Ace, actually, has an incredible hardware selection. Yes, even metric.

I take my time while wrenching and make progress. He lacks motivation and drive. Haha

that made me chuckle!! : )

another laugh, can't remember the last time i've heard someone use the word SPAZ!! lol

so, it's snowing... and I changed my tires already... fun! I have to drive to Massillon after work, hopefully it'll melt by then

Snow in Independence

BIG snow flakes here now in Parma ... and this is WHY i have not changed my wheels/tires yet, because you never know what's going to happen here in good old northern oHIo ...

No snow here and even if there was the tires I have on now are better than the slicks I drove with all through the other "winter" months.
