I've got an email out to Emilio at 949 Racing. Flyin' Miata powdercoated a set of 6UL's for the Targa car. Emilio found out about it and told them to destroy the wheels because they were no longer safe. I'm getting your scientific proof.

Forged wheels should not be powdercoated.

Cast wheels don't suffer from powdercoating.


So. in the long run, do whatever you want. Tire manufacturers recommend against putting 195 series tires on 10" wheels, but people still do it.

pick one up, if heavy they are cast, if light they are probably forged haha jk thats not factual and was intended as a joke but is actually a somewhat decent rule of thumb hahaha

and yea 215 or 225 is what i would suggest HOWEVER, i had a 235 mounted on my 8" wide wheels this past summer

I had chicken yesterday so I think I win for being the trendsetter.

It doesn't look like anyone wants the EVO wheels so I'm ging to get the lip fixed and throw on some new rubber. It has 235's but with the offset they rub.

yeah i rubbed with 235s as well, i think ill go back to 215s like i had when i first got the oz's

215s will be a very slight stretch on an 8" wheel

and i dont think anyone was arguing, nothing wrong with some discussion/banter back and forth from time to time about different subjects... without that the community would be stagnant and people wouldnt learn/understand different things

215 is the smallest i would go and a 255 is the widest i would go on an 8" wheel

speaking of 255's anyone looking for a pair?? i got a set of 255-45-17s collecting dust in my basement, they are brand new and too big to fit on my car without some serious rolling/pulling of fenders. not trying to make top dollar on them, willing to deal and just want them gone... if you guys know anyone let me know

Where did this info come from? From what I read of what you linked, it was in agreement that PC can weaken both cast and forged wheels. I would stick with painting wheels used on the track, just to be safe.

I have coilovers and I run a great deal of negative cambe, r I do clear 1/8" clearance from the coilover, so no rubbing issues.

On a side note I found these. I don't know much about XXR rims though. I'm guessing they are a cheaper brand, butthey look sick.
