What I'm saying is don't count on it to be that high. The Prius is rated a lot higher than 38 (51/50 for the new ones, iirc), but that's what my mom gets. My grandpa's is closer to 39.5, which is still far from impressive for a "hybrid".
A diesel Rabbit will get you a solid 50mpg and be just as un-fun to drive, and they're way more affordable.
Ah, well that's fair. I can't tell you how many time's I've read of someone wanting to set up an autox for their friends / forum / club / whatever and act like it's just showing up in a parking lot and throwing out a few cones lol.
What I would suggest, actually, since I know Marlon has a few connections in this area as well: Get with your local club (since I know at least a handful of you autox regularly) and see if the club has any interest doing a charity event with you guys helping / facilitating / whatever. There's so many ways to do it, and so many charities for it to benefit, but organizations like make-a-wish / et al are always in need. Or as another route, something to benefit your local PD and FD can go a LONG way towards fostering some good will between the "car crowd" and the fuzz.

that would be really cool especially here in toledo. we have a street racing scene here and someone died in an accident last year. we should get the police to come out and have an event that benefits the PD and have some of the street racers come off the street and perform at an autox and try to get on their good side, and hopefully get some of the people off of hoffman road. it would be a huge win win. and maybe we could get a cop car to whip around the course..
Remember AJ NWOR last year at a Perrysburg event helped host a club event that for a Miata Club. Robert Christmas actually participated in it. He said if anyone outside of the NWOR organization could pay the NWOR race fee and a small club fee a race in a heat with eachother. All of the planning would be done by them. We would just have to provide them with the names and cars participating ahead of time for Robert and Dax so they could set up our club. I don't know what anyone would want our club name to be and I don't know if the points earned by AJ and I would go toward our points at the end of the year, but I'm not to worried about that. The biggest thing is showing that we have an interest and a list of names that I could provide Robert. I like my idea better, plus all the people that "street race" probably wouldn't show just because that makes their cars noticable in front of cops. It would be really funny though to see how thoughs guys "race" at a actual event. I can hear the chearping tires now and the way off times.
Unlike AJ I can TCB and have a little bit more determination and will. Thus shows on the track

Not sure what chearping is, but yes, that's pretty standard. They'll show up and get beat by a massive margin by an HS 1987 Honda Civic and never show up again.
Should be a good day to clean out the car. Iwish I had a weekend to myself to redo the wiring for the gauges and figure out why the hell my main dash lights don't work.

Sounds good. Even though my paint is pealing and looks like s***. Love her to death, but she is definitely a 20ft car now.

Well you know our US standards, with emissions they have to make sure they meet all of them, unlike Europe & Asia....build em and ship em.
Might have to do some cruising around and taking some pictures. I'll have nothing else better to do, at least till around 5. I'm old and up around 7 or earlier so just shoot me a time to meet up. Anyone else is more than welcome to join to. It will be the get your ride out on the last day of 2011 event. Too bad Mr. Freeze isn't open
