The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Makes sense. Just wondering. Just a question coming from my "fix what you have before shelling out more money" experiences of the past.

Oh yeah, I totally understand. If it was something like the front valve cover gasket, then yeah. But the head gaskets are a b****. I replaced mine on the new motor in the P5 and it wasn't much fun. And the motor was on your stand. heh-heh. But $900 shipped for a 30k mile motor into a $650 car with another $500 into maintanence isn't bad for a nice DD. :)

And you have an engine to rebuild sell to be rebuilt, or rebuild as a back-up for the P6. Or a dandy boat anchor.

Nope. Not a bad DD at all.

You may have noticed that there's a certain orange piece of equipment not in the garage anymore. Let me know when you need it, and I'll get it back. Probably safe to say it will be a little bit of time before that.

Yeah, it was funny because I noticed more room last week and was like "Oh sweet." Then I remembered the engine hoist is gone saturday and I was like "Oh damn.". Haha. No worries though, I'll probably just buy my own since I plan on using it more and more. It's something that's all ways good to have around. I want to get a press from HF too. But first I gotta get rid of all those old GD tires.

Anyone know of a recycle yard that takes old tires?

we have a hf press...sean had to modify it for some reason...but i'm not sure why, but i do remember it wasn't working for what he wanted to use it for....

^^^ Word. He probably modified it into a brake press as well. Sine he's a clever fellow and all. ;)

And I did a quick search and found a place that recycles tires for $2 a tire. She said ya just show up and drop them off. Yay more garage space!

Lightner Tire Company Drop-Off
Location – 780 East Waterloo Road Akron, Ohio Zip code 44306
Phone. 330 724 7436

not sure...i think he was doing ball joints or bushings or something...don't quote me on that since 99% of the stuff he does is way over my head...i just know he sawed off some part on the press :D

that $2 is a mandatory tax, just like when you get new tires.

Marc has it for his RX7, and can always return whenever needed. Downside about you buying one too is that there already isn't enough room for one, let alone two.

lol you could recycle tires to me. i cant tell you how many times ive gone to the local bmw dealership and taken the tires they were gonna recycle (with permission of course). because they have to pay for pick up. hell 2 of my autocross tires are 225 50 1 6 yokahama s drives from there.....

You can have 4 215/45/18 Potenza RE050As that I've had sitting outside my garage all summer if you want.

IIRC 2 are are 2/32nds and 2 are at 3/32nds.

id love em but i have no use for 18's :/ i just get tires i can use. i have spares on hand at all times. tuffy charges me 40 dollars to dismount and remount 4 tires. hint hint evan.......

Ah I didn't know what size you needed so I thought I'd try :D

Well shoot, Adam, I've got a bunch of 17" tires. I've got 4 215/40-17 Khumo's and bunch of others. Problem is you live 2 hours away. So I'm not sure how that would work. And Leipolds and Conrads over here charge $65 to dismount/mount tires. ANd Leipolds told me they don't do low profile tires anymore. Pffsht.

im sure there is a tuffy around there..... and pleaseeeee keep the 17's and bring them to the mid ohio meet! ill take em off your hands then or at any other opportunity. im gonna start up a toledo meet hopefully.

evan i know you still got the old kumhos' do you have 3 or 4 i cant quite remember

if you got 3 ill take 2 off your hands cause i may have had a tiny issue with rear toe even after an alignment and could use 2 tires to slap in the back just to get me through summer (but if you got 4 ill take em all and throw em on and kill em over the rest of summer LOL

i ran into serious toe issues as well. i need to replace a couple tires until i but 4 new primewells

just saw you replied while i was typing, evan, if AJ doesnt want them or cant come get them, i could come out the 21st (its a sunday) and take the 4 kumho's off your hands, i think they would be good enough for me to get through the rest of summer on lol
