The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Is there a time set for this little shindig? I may be down for an afternoon ride that way if we have nothing going on. I have not gotten an answer from Jen yet as to her ideas on the weekend. Go figure right?

You know you guys are just making me wish I was home sooner, right?

Ya I bet. I would be so home sick by now. We can make plans to have a get together between Christmas and New Years, a welcome home sort of thing.

Larry, wrenching usually starts at 10am and will last pretty much all day. You guys are more than welcome to come up and hang out, wash/wax the 3 and such. I'll PM you my cell.

Oh we would most DEFINITELY have a party when Phen comes home. With plenty of MJ to boogie to. :)

im still not too sure if ill be out for this or not yet.. im hoping to but im trying to get someone to come with me so the red head can come home

You better bring Kyle or I'll kick your ass Tony! We'll be bringing some Great Lakes Christmas Ale to Daytona. We should have pricing soon, Lime rock will be bigger and better than last year and so will Mid-Ohio!!!

Already working out the plans my friend! He is excited.....two races this year!! I think we may even drive the 5 down......

Chipmunk and Justine can't make it.
Yeah, we had all intentions and then something else popped up with my grandma--but it's cool!

Anyone who wants to hang out next weekend (Nov. 20th) can come out my way--I'm having a family get together. Justine is making awesome cheese stuffed shells for dinner, my parents, grandparents, aunt/uncle, couple cousins (we all live on the same street next to each other LOL) will be there. Feel free to come out, starts around 4:30-5ish. Let me know, I wanted to extend this to the Mazda family.

anybody have opinions on haltech ecu? standalone more trouble than it's worth? complete overkill on a bolt-on msp?

you guys know of anyone looking for a set of stock ms6 wheels? i found a set of wheels i REALLY want in pittsburgh and im trying to sell the ms6's (very cheap might i add)

If you know how to tune it, or know a really really good tuner, it could make your engine last longer. I'd look at it like an investment. A bad tune is what kills a ton of turbo'd cars. Total guess here, but I think that might be what kills the MSP's when people start strapping on things to increase airflow while on the stock ecu/tune, and it leans out the afr's, which is good for power, and good for boom..

Heck, a lot of guys are running full megasquirt in their ZE Probes, and they're bolted, possibly with nitrous, but also N/A, for the peak amount of power, and tweakability.

hmm, not sure if i could tune it myself, a little over my head i think since it's not plug and play as far as i can tell.

Do it! As mentioned above you either really have to know what you're doing or take it to someone who knows what they are doing because it will allow you COMPLETE control over the engine. Not to mention there are TONS of other upgrade you open yourself up to. With a Haltech standalone you can literally remove all of the stock engine control wiring harness and start fresh.

I'm actually planning on going with a Platinum Sport 1000 for my RX-7. I plan on completely ripping out the old wiring harness and making a new one to clean things up.

the closest and only haltech dealer in ohio is in dayton, i sent an email to a shop here to see if they are able to tune it. I'm looking at the sprint 500 right now, and going through ebay listings

Do they come with tires? And if so...are the by any chance all season or winter tires with lots of tread? lol

it won't give you a LOT more power but it will maximize what you can get with bolt ons, and as Wes mentioned make you engine last longer. They're a pain to tune at first but will be easy after it's done. Sahlen's gave me the name of a very good tunner since a Sport 1000 is in my future, don't think it'll be cheap though. Let me know if you want his info.

I use to tune the old Haltechs, specifically the E6 and E10. This tunning software is way different but much better (and windows friendly!), you can learn how to tweak it for winter and other altitude locations should you decide to drive hard in other states.

Ah, I'm pretty sure the Sprint 500 is technically a piggyback (similar to AEM F/IC). Does RX7Store not deal in Haltech products? I know they have to ability to tune them and they should be pretty close to you. I think they actually prefer Microtech's though...

EDIT: Just checked and I'm wrong, it is a standalone. I was thinking of the Interceptor.
