The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Hm. Looks like I didn't miss much in here this weekend. Hopefully that means everyone had a great holiday weekend!

I finally tracked a stock suspension miata... Oh lawd, the body roll is horrendous lol.

So how'd everyone's weekend go? I changed the oil on the 2 and got the RX-7 ready for its custom exhaust on Saturday. Got s***-faced during the game Saturday night and lost my switchblade key for the 2 in the process. Spent all day Sunday recovering (damn, I'm getting old) and spent all day yesterday doing house/yard work.

Also, the wife and I started talking about the 24 Hours at Daytona next year. It's probably too early (tickets aren't even available) but does anyone have plans for that yet?

I am going. I already have tickets and a camping site (they offer renewals of the same tickets/camping spots to people who had tickets last year).

Okay so you can renew already but general tickets aren't available yet? Would you recommend camping? We're trying to figure out if we should bring Ian or leave him with the grandparents for the weekend. If he comes I'll probably get a hotel nearby for him and the wife. I figured I'd just pass out watching the race, LOL.

I would've thought general tickets would've been available by now. I renewed the tickets and the campsite back in June or July I think... Maybe you need to call to find out ticket information?

Last year was our first year going, we stayed in a camper that we rented in Orlando and drove up to Daytona. We wanted to stay at the track so we didn't have to worry about leaving for anything. It was great to have a place to crash for a couple hours during the race.

Yes, I was the lucky one lol. I'm hoping it's something easy like a coil pack or a clogged EGR (I've received codes for insufficient EGR flow on really hot days). The car ran amazing all day long. My 2nd last session, I got the code P0300 right at the beginning pulling out of pit lane. The car wouldn't accelerate, but I could hear it building boost. By the time I was on the back straight after the keyhole, the car drove perfectly fine so I finished out the session without any issues. I then ran my final session for the day without any issues, until I got the same code and issue near the end of the session. So I had to limp it back to the pits. I cleared the code, unhooked the battery, and let it sit for a bit while I put my road wheels on and packed up the car. Then I started it back up and it still had the issue. You can hear it at idle just struggling to idle and the engine was vibrating like crazy due to misfires. I used my Torque app to monitor the AFRs and Fuel pressure. At idle, if I just blip the throttle (to like 1500rpm), my fuel pressure goes up to 1600 or 1700psi and stays up there for a few seconds, then finally drops back down to the 400 range. I've never done this before I had the issues, but I don't think fuel pressure should go that high with just the blip of the throttle. I would only expect to see that psi when I'm at WOT only.

#2, I've got 4 used (60k miles) spare coilpacks if you want to try one out before buying them.

Oh man. Hopefully its nothing too major. Best of luck, #2
Thanks Sho

Marlon suggested I have Mark at Mazda Montrose diagnose my issue, so we towed it to the dealership yesterday. Marlon says Mark is one of the best Mazda techs and used to own a MS6...so he's very familiar with our engine. I may have to take you up on that offer depending on what they find. If they do think it's a coil pack issue, I'll shoot you a text and maybe I can swing by to borrow those. Thanks #1

Sucks to hear you had issues #2. Did you drive it home or get it towed from Mid-Ohio?

Marlon and Lauri were kind enough to let me use their AAA to tow it back. They said luckily, they really haven't had to use it this year since Spicy is running great and has been at the shop most of this year. I will most likely be signing up for AAA soon. I had my dad add Emergency Roadside service to my State Farm plan a month ago (was only a few bucks for 6 months). They said they'll tow anywhere, even to my house. They somehow forgot to mention...they only tow up to 12 miles LOL.

OK well that's good that you didn't have to pay for it then. I could've brought my trailer back if you would've had to pay, but I'm glad it worked out.

I left early because I was tired.

It's morning alright, as for that first word, that has yet to be seen

have to walk out the door with a good attitude. (which I didn't since I woke up 20 minutes late and got to work 15 minutes late (drove the wheels of my focus))

Well, considering I shot 15 shotgun slugs yesterday, and a box of birdshot shells, and a handful of rifle rounds, my shoulder is killing me. It's making reaching across and around my desk difficult. Then, I'm doing nothing but fixing peoples crap this morning, yet again.
