The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

If they made the new SHO with a manual transmission, I would get one in a heartbeat. Sho's SHO!

i was about to type up a SHO and Sho joke then i clicked to this page and you already did haha

i dig the fiesta ST, cool little cars

oh and on another note, my madre joined the Mazda Family last night, picked up a 2010 CX-7, Grand Touring Model (Fully Loaded) only 21k on the odometer and she got a hell of a deal on it.

(pardon the over processed twitter pic, little bro took it and its the only pic i have of it lol) and little brother has already removed the stupid plate and mount off the front end. haha, ill clear off the dealer sticker on the back next time i go home haha

The dual clutch on the BMWs is very nice, regular VWs piss me off though.

Ours only clunks during warm-up but general slow driving (<15 mi/hr) can confuse it if left in "auto" mode. If I switch it into manual mode (when my wife lets me) it's actually pretty fun. It's not super-car fast, but it's still probably faster than I could shift my old P5 with a lighweight flywheel, aftermarket clutch, and short shifter.

This. The "automated manual" technology has come a long way. When we were looking to get the TDI for my wife I really wanted to save $1500 by going with a manual but the DSG transmission shifts faster than I ever could and actually gets better fuel economy. And that was just the "economy" version. I can only imagine how nice the "sports" versions are on BMW's, Ferrari's, etc. The only downside is they seem to be a little clunky at low speed and during warm-up.

I totally agree. The DSG is a much better pairing with the diesel than the manual. It seems to always keep the engine right in the power band.

Ugh, just made the mistake of looking up the Fiesta ST on Ford's website. Now I want one and am already looking up trade-in values for the 2.

I might be interested in the 2 before you trade it in.

Ha, now you have my attention. I'd want to talk to the Ford dealership first to figure out when the ST's will be available and what my price would be but I'd DEFINITELY prefer to keep the 2 in the OH Mazda family rather than trade it in.

Then Nate can finally stop talking about buying a car. haha (love you, Nathan!)

Menchies tonight, jive turkeys?

I'm pretty sure the old Spec TDi cup used the DSG transmissions in the race cars. Those were so much fun to watch... especially the race at Road Atlanta in 2009.

Good deal.

Fixed for ya.

I do the same with a "der". Or Evanezer. People still think Evan is short for something. Nope, just Evan. lulz.

Back to automatic transmissions, I think they all suck. I still prefer a manual trans to get a better handle of the car. In an auto I just feel like I'm along for the ride and not really in control. Then again, I haven't driven a new fancy automatic. But nor do I want to, just more things to break and replace.

I sure am grumpy for a Friday... Wasn't there a song for today?

So I guess all those Grand-Am, ALMS, and F1 drivers are just along for the ride as well :p

And before anyone says it yes I know sequential transmissions are different than automated manuals.

I was gumpy yesterday I feel good today. PAID DAY! but I always end up slamming the brakes in an automatic because my left foot has nothing to do. or I can't control how fast it speeds up like its always down shifting and acting like I floored it. Last automatic I drove was a g6. My sister's TL is nice though

some of them are actually really nice now, the auto in my dads Ram has a slap shift in the middle console and allows you to downshift and upshift and its pretty damn responsive with gear selections. actually feels like i have same control as my manual just no third pedal haha

and agreed, its Friday, im very grumpy today and im even working a short day, HA
ill blame it on 3 straight days of rain...

Yup! Just going for a leisurely cruise, like a parade lap the whole time.

Oh you... You know what I mean though. Jon, if you were buying a sports car wouldn't you want a manual? Heck, even if I was buying just a boring around town car I would still want a manual. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rules, if you have bad knees, live in NYC, etc. But in Ohio, I would prefer a manual over an auto any day.

Haha!

I drove a PDK equipped Porsche at Mid-Ohio a few years ago. It's pretty awesome, and supposedly it's only gotten better in the last couple years.

My work browser is so out of date I can no longer post videos from youtube :(

I loved the new 6 with the flappy paddle gear box as Clarkson would say. I still felt like I was in control shifting that way as opposed to just riding along.
