The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Still on my weekend... Working on the Miata.

Anyone else have today off?
Have it off work, still have class tonight though.

Just got back from test driving a speed3 & a new 6 GT. I liked the speed3 and could easily see myself owning it, but I loved the 6 and will one day be owning it. Not sure exactly when or what color yet but most likely a sport model and use the 17"s as winter wheels

I would wait until the diesel version comes out if you are looking at the 6!

Care to explain or is it personal?

long story short.... the joys, aggrevations and all that other s*** that goes with house shoppping

found a house, was ready to make an offer tonight, only to find out this morning that the property taxes are getting doubled after the tax assessment went through... owner is appealing the taxes but with taxes doubling, it put the house out of my price range... just alot of highs and lows in a weekend

The owner can appeal, once you get the appraisal which will show the actual appraisal of the property. Normally, assesors use a lower amount as opposed to the appraised value. My suggestion is to have the appraisal done and then proceed accordingly, I know that PA Taxes are high, especially the school taxes. Good luck man, I would check the county website and see what value they gave the property and compare it to the contract price, it will give you an idea what is going on. Let me know if you need my help in researching this for you

I'm not sure if the extra cost of diesel both initial cost & $1/gallon at the pump will out weigh the savings in MPG's over the gas engine. I currently drive about 7k miles or less a year.

Plus I have to weigh the potential long term maintenance of the bi-turbo system. The massive torque would be awesome though.

the county tax assessment had the house values around 120s, its realistically valued around 80-90 (atleast coming from the homeowners realtor and my realtor)... the current owner is appealing but i dont have high hopes, i know alot of people that got shafted hardcore on their taxes this past year in the pittsburgh area, but seriously 4k a year in property taxes on a 90k house is ******* nuts!! IMO

i just know that im not nearly well enough off financially to have my taxes cost almost as much on a house as my actual mortgage does... just wasnt meant to be and its better finding that out now than AFTER i made an offer or later down the road if i actually bought the house...

You'll find something out there Levi. A similar instance happened with April and I when looking into a house 5 years ago. I had a bad feeling about it and backed out of it. Later found out the house had a bunch of issuses and had a tax increase. Then I lost my job. Things happen and life goes on. There are a bunch of options in the housing market.

(yes, I'm super bored too, Corey...)

I really want to just go home and start cutting and weld the pieces together for the trap door oil baffle.
