The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Well, at the risk of being dead to Evan, I've decided what my next project is going to be. I will be doing a full track build of my '72 Chevelle. I worked out most of the parts list I need for suspension and brakes and it should be a very fun car. Still debating whether to keep the old school 454 big block I have now, go with a conventional small block or go with an LSx. Right now I'm leaning toward buying a wrecked 4th generation Camaro and pulling the drivetrain out of it.

Anyway, here is how it looks now:

And a couple pictures from having fun in College:

Not sure anyone cares since its not a Mazda, but I'm excited so just wanted to share.

Oh and the part that sealed it for me is I'm planning on painting it Titanium Grey with "Brees Motorsports Blue" racing stripes as a nod to the MSP.

That'll be sweet Bill. While I love seeing nice shape classics in near original condition, I love seeing resto-mods built for the purpose like you're talking. It gives new life to old cars that just didn't perform all that great (except in a straight line).

My car was originally a 307 car with no options and it has almost 150k miles on it and I drove it through many winters. It's not a good restoration candidate. It has way more sentimental value than real world value because it is my first car that I bought a year before I could even get my license. I've had it for 20 years now.

Not sure what thread we are talking about the dinner meet in but we are officially out. Jen is bummed since she found out Steph and Sophia will be there.

Pfft.....Mazda's suck, Pro-Touring Muscle Cars FTW!!!!

Can't wait to modernize my dad's '68 Firebird when I get it from him...

Awesome bill and love the tribute paint job idea. Could always post up a build thread in the "my other car is not a mazda" forum. ;-) and are those jersey plates i spy?

My Wife's 2002 Chrysler Town and Country Limited got 11.6 mpgs on her last tank and 2 tanks before that she got 12.1 mpgs. Debating on getting rid of the P.O.S., problem is convincing the wife. An I love the F&F movies. Like a giddy school girl when I seen the previews on YouTube today.

Sounds like it might need a tune up.

Bill, you're dead to me now. (JUST KIDDING) That will be cool to watch the build, make a thread for it and try to remember to update it once in a while. ;)

T'was a fun dinner and always good to see everyone, even if I couldn't hear everyone. What? Lauri, and Jake, hope you guys feel better. Larry, we'll see you guys at the next one. :)

Our 2004 got 16-18 in the city and 23-25 on the highway. How many miles are on it?!

Maintaining 30-33 mi/gal in the 2 with about 75% city driving so over all not too bad there. Nothing compared to my wife's 40+ mi/gal in the Jetta TDI with about 90% highway but still much better than the Flex, which got 19 mi/gal with 100% highway. 23 mi/gal my ass Ford!

Bill that Chevelle is awesome! I always liked the '70 styling a little better but cool nonetheless. The teenage, GM, musclecar, fanboy in me says keep the BB 454, but a lower, further-back, and lighter LSx engine would probably be the better idea. I'm with Evan, get a build thread going!

If it's not the original motor I would just pluck it out and put in whatever. I would probably keep and build up the 454 though.

Sounds awesome Bill! Can't wait for the thread.

+1 and to what Phen said

http://www.heidts.com/Scripts/default.asp Can't get any more modern than that. Would love to but it in the Camaro one day but have to figure what changed in '74 so the setup isn't a direct fit.
