I believe if you wreck it and it comes to less then you owe, the insurance covers what you owe too.

err. nevermind did a search on google. To answer that question, no I don't have gap insurance and I'd never heard of it till now. So in short....I AM SCREWED.

Since the accident clearly wasn't your fault, wouldn't you be able to pursue any third parties to recover any cost over what your insurance company will pay for?

I probably can, it seems like a lot of people are suggesting that I pursue some sort of settlement to help pay off what I owe to Mazda. But, I have no idea where to start and I don't want to come off as one of those people who are going to try to take someone for all that they have. I did get pictures of the damage today and I'll try to post them as soon as I can for all to see. If they total my car, I will be selling my AutoEXE front grill and my PIAA Xtreme headlights.

You will come out of this a-okay. If you can sell some parts off the car (and with a little effort I think you might be able to sell many) you should be able to buy time with your lendors. Unless you owe an incredibly large amount on the car (i.e. 10k or more) you might be suprised what you can do about your loan. Talk to your bank or credit union. Let them know the situation. It can't hurt.

It's no good, dude. My friend also got in a wreck just yesterday. His life's practically ruined 'cos he's only 17 and all.. it's just a huge mess with his 'rents.

I talked to Sean of AutoR&D and he also agrees that it would be a good idea to buy the car back if they end up totaling it out. The Autoexe grill is already spoken for. I'm not sure what else I can slavage from the car since AAA hasn't been buy the autobody shop to take a look at it. Thanks for all of the support guys and gals, I hope things work out for me too. I've been under a lot of stress lately due to work and moving into a new apartment. The last thing I needed was this to happen.

Why does it have to be running? Besides, it shouldn't be Mazda that's taking it away, but your insurance company. Better yet, I'm sure Natey would be willing to SWAP ECUs so your car will still be running
