With the increase in the number of lower and lower cars and wider wheels with skinnier tires, I needed a refuge, and I knew by reading responses in many threads on here that others did too.

I'd argue that 35-series tires are not functionalI think this applies... Before I sold it, my Protege5 was riding on Espiler Springs (1" drop), stock struts, RX-8 rims with 215/35R18 rubber and 3mm spacers in the rear to keep the wheels from banging against the struts.
