Ok, since my tranny problem i have had many people tell me diff. things about our 4 bangers, like if we drive the manual tranny hard and shift too fast and all that our engines/tranny's won't last.. but on the other hand look at the honda s2000, they are 4 cylinders, those cars were definately not built to granny shift down the street.. they are sports cars.. so what is everyone else's opinion on the subject?? and how could we upgrade the tranny to handle more power if needed besides the clutch, etc.?

I drive mine pretty hard on weekends and daily drive it to boot. I think the car is pretty durable as long as you drive with some sense..i.e. heel-toe down shifting, no miss shifts, etc. the car's not bulit to withstand but so much abuse mazda figures it's a car for a young family or single person that wants some style out of a four door sedan. With the proper mods and good driving personally I think the car'll do fine. As far as turbo's and n2o go the bottom end should probably be strengthed some before adding too much boost and nitrous.
somewhere i dunno if it was on this board, somebody posted a link for a performance transmission for our cars, seems like we share it with either older proteges or some other car.
Now, about 4 bangers being the cause of the tranny problems... the person who told u that is clearly just bashing... i mean, i just have my previous experiences with cars as proofs, i had a 1993 mazda miata before my mp3, and believe me, it took way, way, way more abuse that what the mp3 has nearly taken so far. Had it for 2 years, bought it with 64k, and never gave me a problem. Transmission was not notchy, and if you go take a look at miata.net, seems like their transmission is indeed built, for a sport car, unlike ours of course...
I thought it could be clutch, pressure plate, flywheel problem, but seems like ppl is still getting the same results even with aftermarket.

Maybe I'm not driving my car right then, because I have yet to experience a real problem. Aside from from smacking it into 3rd on a mis shift. Usually the transmissions on FWD cars are pretty durable. AWD not durable, RWD (depending on the car) you can beat it to hell. Only time will tell if our trans is flawed.
I have had no problems except when I am flying through gears fron 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, The car will pull right from the torque. I have taken it 1000-rpm's through redline ( on accident ) and had no grind or burnt clutch smell. I drive the car very hard and have 7000 miles. Seriously I almost feel bad for the car. I have a major problem with being an adrenalin junkie. I pray for my car, I do love her though. I have seriously lost it.
