Test Drive Suggestions?

I'm finally going to take a 'speed for a test drive. Any suggestions on what to look for? Any tests I should put it though?

Also, is it okay to ask to go with my dad and no sales rep? Do the sales guys *HAVE* to go?

test drive

only think I could suggest is take it on the highway if possible (but not long cuz its not broken in) and make sure u dont hear any weird sounds or whizes or clunks that arent supposed to be there. As for taking the guy along, when i test drove my p5 the guy just handed me the key and didnt ask any questions and didnt ask for ID or any of that... we could have driven the car home and not worried about it but we didnt, we paid for it... just inspect the car all around and make sure there nothing physically wrong with it (if its the one your going to take home)

Good luck and I hate you! (I want a 'speed)

I'm not buying right now (unless someone on here wants to cosign for me :D), but I'm ready to go check out the car..

Try and hit some fairly high rpm's, not crazy but take it to 4000 at least. Try and get the engine nice and hot. Then after the run pop the hood, leave it running and smell for coolant or oil smells, look for any evidence of coolant on the splash shield (under the turbo and radiator). Let it run for ages and watch the coolant level in the overflow resevoir, make sure it does not go over the max line.

The first thing I noticed on my MP5 when I went to pick it up was a dent on the rear hatch. Apparently I was the only one to find it, but the sales rep asured me that it wasn't there the day before when the car came in. (I wanted Laser Blue so they had to do a swap with another dealer) He got the GM and everything to come out. Kinda put a damper on the whole new car thing but they are taking care of it as we speak.

It also had 170 miles on it...is this normal? When the swap cars with dealerships do they drive them or put them on a carrier? The other dealership was 75 miles away.

Thats nothing 2 of my wheels were scuffed to hell and the rear bumper had liscense plate screw imprints. the dumb b**** that test drove the car before me ran a curve and backed into someone.
