Basically, I have around 1200 in the bank and more coming soon. I really want some coil overs. I want imroved handling and less road "feel". What I mean by that is I don't want to feel every bump and hear the road. I know it's not possible to get rid of all of it, but which one will do best for the money?

tein jic

hey sup man. well i was talking to some guys the other day at a local parts shop. i asked the same thing, tein or jic. tein and jic are around 1400, but there is no need for that they said. unless you are going pro-rally and you need the performance handling, there is no real point to having it for street use. i just got tein stech springs and im waiting to install them. i say u get springs and suspension and use the rest up to modify your car more. but thats just my opinion? good luck dude. peace - chris

If you get the JIC's, that's exactly what you'll get. You won't feel every bump because of the dampening adjustability and when you decide you ant to go auto crossing or track racing, you'll already have the first ingredient. But on the other hand, if you want looks and don't plan on racing or autocrossing. Just buy the S-Tech springs. From what I've heard, they are pretty good for the P5.

With your budget you won't be able to afford the JIC's. I have the JIC's and the teins can't compare. They don't even produce a monotube coilover for the Protege. They are all entry level twin tube.

I have the JIC's and they are great on the street. I like the fact that I can lower the car without sacrificing any ride quality.

Rishie, I know I won't be able to afford them quite yet, but soon enough, I will be getting them. How much do they run for the club members? I am looking for somewhere around 1500. PM me dude. Thanks!

I am curious about one thing... Since the damping force adjustment knob for the front of JIC system is at the vary bottom, which is differ as Tein. Will it be hard to adjust the damping force everytime?? Thanks for whom it may be answer...

The knob for the JIC's is at the top. The strut in the pic isn't the one for the Protege although the Protege stuff looks fairly similar.

so howmuch are the jics and where can i place the order, im very interested and have a discover card and im not affraid to use it

hehehe

You can order thru us. We are listed on JIC's site and are their primary distributor. For club pricing please pm me.

go to www.jic-magic.com and look at suspension FLT-A2 only.

They are both inverted. Knob at bottom.

nope, not at all. Just click them all the way back to 0, then click to the number you want. I believe Rishie has his at 3 in the front and 5 in the rear. Lower numbers being the softer and higher numbers being harder.

okay, well, for those who have these, how does the drop look? and hows the reliablity on these??? i heard that there were problems with them about recalls and stuff. and how hard is it to get to the knob under the car? do you have to jack it up? just questions i wanna clear before i buy them. thanks

I have not heard of any recalls. You must keep in mind that High pressure gas charged dampers going to Hawaii via air freight are susceptible to damage in transit. That's why you may hear of damaged coilovers in Hawaii.

With regards to difficulty of adjustment I have not had any problems what so ever. I just turn the wheel and lay on my back. Then stick my hand in there and turn the knob. Simple as that. I'm glad i don't have to take the interior panels apart to get to the rear adjustment either.
