TBK Performance New Monster !!!

It does, but it doesn't. Read the thread I started a LONG while back on it, and I've had mine on now for a year, no problems... I was worried too, but AWR and other members here assured me it was fine, and now a season later I see it's true.

What "horror stories" are there of the AWR pan? Please elaborate...

sorry, been reading every post here and finally had to chime in. the AWR pan was THE WORST fitting part I had to install on my new build. that thing was sooooo distorted!!!! then when i finally got it some what straight and installed it with a cork gasket, it leaked thru two welds!!! next thing i just noticed is where the return line for the turbo is. i wish i wouldve tapped the windage tray instead. the return bung on the awr pan is not low enough to properly return oil. the best upgrade for higher capacity is resivoir tanks and oil coolers (and even filter relocators).

Well to be honest, that LSD you see in the picture is so freaking working good that when it breaks if someday do, which i doubt it, it has cryo treatment i'll get a quife, and then i can say there is nothing else i can do to these car.. well about the 30 psi i think in probably another week, my performance shop its working in the bigger 1000cc injectors, sr adjustable cam gears, and methanol injection. after those things are installed then we up the boost to 30 PSI and a aggresively dyno tune the haltech, we are specting to get around 575+whp on race gas... let's see how everything comes out !!!!

hey man great job here!! i have a lot of what you have minus the injectors. i was wondering if you could pm the maps to me. my car runs like s*** after all the BIG mods i've done and i'm going nuts not being able to drive my car. miguel wont return my calls and juan..... **** it with juan. i just want something i can use. i want to get this thing going. i want to send my car to TBK so I can get it tuned right for once, but I cant get it there not running. CAN YOU PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME OUT HERE??? thanks man!!!

There is no return bung on the AWR pan already, you have to put one, which is what I did, up nice and high. The cometic cork gasket doesn't even work with the stock pan, so just use RTV like Mazda does. There's nothing wrong with the AWR pan, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with it. It's a race part, not a street part.

After looking over this again, I don't understand how I was so dismissive about the LSD welds. You should get your money back and while you are at it, kick whoever welded this in the balls:

I'm sorry, but that is absolutely inexcusable when a customer is paying what you have paid. I would be pissed if I were you. It should look more like this if anyone other than a monkey welds it:

That diff is not going to hold what you want to throw at it. Mark my word. Have it fixed before the car leaves TBK, or you will be cursing on the side of the road in europe somewhere.

you are absolutely right, those welds does look like s***...

I know i have to put a Quife on it, but i ran out of time, its not the best welding but it works like a champ also has cryo treatment that its helping me a little until i get my pay check and buy the quife, ill be putting one soon. about the coil packs, im still waiting for the haltechs i order, havent got them yet, these car is not done, it will be most likely here in Spain.. the hardcore stuff is already done, changing the diff its not that complicated, i have a friend in here in spain with a Performance shop near my home that can do me the favor on changing the LSD, im also waiting for , GT Spec 4 Point Ladder Brace, GT Spec Front Lower Tie Brace, and GT Spec rear V-Brace to complete my suspension, 1000cc Injectors, Adjustable Cam Gears, Methanol and a more aggresive street tune has already been done. im almost at the end of my build. after i put the quife and my coil packs, and the GT spec stuff ill be Finish with these dream of mine. i think ill have a Good Car, with good power, daily driven and confort, I left the stock seats just added leather interior on it., i really didnt like the Racing Style, racing seats, roll cages and no interior for light weight, i want to have something i can drive everyday and have luxury and confort, i basically wanted to have something that nobody has, or try to !!... probably its not the best car build out there you know, probably has some defects or missing performance parts but for me i think i already reached and went over the dream car i wanted to build, even though I didnt do everything my else like some of you guys. but everything you see i planned it, and told my performance shop to do it the way i wanted, of course respecting their knowledge about how to do it, i think i have done a nice MSP, but these is just my honest opinion !!!

There IS an option for return on the AWR pan!!!!! That is the pan I got. What else would that gaping threaded hole be used for????? I never said I used a cometic gasket either. I had to make my own. oh and by the way... NO s*** its a RACE pan. JESUS CHRIST!!!! this aint my first rodeo son.

Miguel- sorry about the bicker on your thread here, some people just get me frustarted. I am realy jealous about how sick your ride is turning out. cant wait to see some video. By the way, my set up is with the 440 injectors, what else did you want to know for that map?

A threaded hole won't do s***! Its too thin! I drilled mine out, then bolted on an aluminum block about 3/4" thick, with a tapped hole for my return line so it had enough threads to grab onto. The thickness of that pan won't cut it, and you're foolish for thinking it wouldn't leak.

If not the Cometic cork gasket, then which one? Did you jsut make your own? It's designed for RTV, not a gasket so that's why yours leaked. I think I'd know a tad more about building the FS than you...

Hey MAXX chill with the people here men, we already know you are a ******* genius building FS engines, there is no need to be like that, Cmon lets be nice with everyone, I really dont understand whats the point by talking to others the way you do, if someone else dont have your knowledge just share your ideas and knowledge in a nice friendly way, explain your HOW TO in a nice way. If you dont like others to talk to you like an ass, just dont talk like an ass to others. a friendly advice !! we are all here in the forums to learn and share ideas...

I just like to see everyone helping each other out. I'll be needing some help from the big build guys soon enough though.

Well, these is the thread for anything youll need buddie, Iam here, and we are all here, the people that are willing to help others !!!!

even tho i agree they look like s***...they are still holding 400+ HP..
so, they aren't that bad...besides...if it wasn't for that picture...nobody would've known anyways...its inside a transmission.
as long as it holds long enough for him to get a quaife, is all good IMO

Though I hate getting involved in these kinds of threads, I feel I might be able to add some light. The welds on that LSD are not the best or even close. There are no penetration marks thus making it weak. The idea behind welding is to fuse to pieces together. You melt the 2 pieces and add filler rod to fuse them together. The welds look to be from a MIG welder and that is not the best one to use on a cast piece. When welding on a cast piece you should use a TIG welder. The piece being welded must be heated up before welding it and high nickel filler rods used. Otherwise the weld will crack thus making it useless.

You can tell that was not done with a TIG welder due to the little splatter specs surrounding the area. That was done with wire feed MIG welder and will just break off.

If (when) one of those specs breaks free they will chew up all of your gears. I know this thread has brought alot of negatives and I don't want to be one to add to it but "Just lookin out for you"!
