The thing is, not everyone is going to take that approach - I really hate that argument "If everyone thought like you then..." Ok, so millions modify their cars, how many of them do you think have gone completely catless? I'm willing to bet that well less than half of all those who modify their cars are willing to do so in fear of the law. For me, that is a risk I have prepared to take. So out of all the consumer cars on all the roads in the world, how many do you think are catless, 1%? That impact is hardly significant considering the many other sources of pollution which well overshadow automobiles such as aircraft, seagoing vessels an even large over-land transports such as semis and whatnot. You can preach all you want about how you think I don't care about the future and whatnot when it's actually my job to make the aircraft engines of the future more efficient and cleaner burning...
The main point: not everyone thinks like me and they never will so it's a moot point.
