2003 Yellow Mazda Protege5 Autostick
I am planning to put the p5 into the Hot Import Nights in Chicago in July of 2005. I am planning way ahead of time so as to do it right. I plan on going with hood, side skirts, rear valance, rear spoiler, interior dash trim, and hatch handle all in cf and from DG. I also plan on designing a mobile entertainment system but trying to come up with some ideas to really catch peoples atention at the show. The car is already yellow with red calipers and valve cover. I was thinking of going with a Hot Wheels theme....giant Hot Wheels flame logo along the sides of the car, not sure with all the cf. Maybe some red and yellow strobes under the car to look like flames are under the car? I was thinking of just going with straight black leather seat covers. My funds are limited and I have about 7 months so I could use any suggestions. I am pretty lucky because I work in the car audio industry as an installer and have access to the electronic goodies, but not the money, so thank God I get a great discount. Oh yeah, I need to slam the car but be able to raise it for daily/winter driving. So, anyone got good coilovers to suggest that don't ruin the ride? I will post pics and keep you guys posted as I work on this. The guys at the shop and I will be dynomating the entire car so I will post some pics of the car gutted for you guys too. I get dynomat for a under a third of the price of the materials so I am gonna dynomat the s*** out of it....even the roof. Any ideas or suggestions?

Will you have the motor done by then? I am not doing performance yet.....next year turbo and tranny swap. Have you been or even entered your car before? I went two years ago and decided to enter the car this time around.

hah, i decided that i'm going to enter my car as well, since i live in chicago. 3 yellow p5's...that would be crazy. as for your suspension, i would recommend getting bags if you really want to slam it, because i believe it snows pretty hard in Des Moines. or, just get a pro-kit or something. they drop about an inch and a half, and look real good.

Yeah I did get the pm, thanks. It would be funny as hell if we were all by each other,LOL. What have you done so far cazish? Bags would be cool but I need to keep some room in the back for the audio crap I plan on shoving in.....including a subs, amps, monitors, computer, and maybe even a built in cooler.

if you got the money to spend and want a show car -- id say bags :)theres a few members on the board that have bags --- i like this one ----->

Not a fan of the tezzas, but otherwise nice. If you want show, fiberglass the dash, and anything on the interior, idealy, and surface other than the seats and carpets, you want smooth, and coloured. Basically, rice the **** outta your car, which since it's show, is ok, just don't get lame or anything. The stropes sounds kine cool but no on the hotwheels thing. Maybe got for some form of super intrakit Flame design on the side if you like flames, or stay clean, and keep the sides neat, and only add a simple, black vinly tribal design or something...best bet is custom. And yes, bags are the way to go, but I think JIC coiloevers are your best bet if thats the way you wanna go. Also, get some nice, huge 18-19inch rims...yellow car = silver/chrome style rim, but not too chromey ricerish..I dunno, I'm tired, and kinda drunk, so I dunno if any of this sounds good or not, I know it sounds ricey, but hey, you're making it for show right now, if you had cash for parts, I say turbo, and chrome everything under the hood.

i'm doing EVERYTHING this month, gonna be quite busy. shaving emblems, shaving side markers, H3/H7/9005 Silverstars, painted headlights, painted hood, painting dash console, shift knob+boot, Air Horn (for scaring old Korean ladies), SRI, exhaust(still debating which), a bunch of wiring mods, et cetera. this is gonna be a fun month. =)

i will be entering in HIN chicago 2005 for sure, i have done this show for the last 2 years..its great..we should all meet up together for the roll in so we all get spots together to represent the mazda crew, i have been trying to do this every year, but everyone just doesnt seem to be there at the same time to roll in together, hopefully should be better in 2005, we gotta all get together before it to plan this one out carefuly, hope to see you all there..

Matthew is always so negative about people trying different things on their show cars. *sigh*

Here is what I am starting with. The headlights have been painted black and the calipers red. Instead of painting the center console area I am gonna put on the DG cf dash kit. This replaces the whole shroud around the stereo, gauges, glove box cover, area around the shifter, and the center arm rest. Meeting up and riding in together would be killer, especially since there are at least three yellow mazdas going already. Black flames may be the way to go since there will be alot of cf on the outside of the car.
