synthetic manual tranny oil...

thats good to hear, cold shifting should be a lot better now, the twm is much firmer, but the shifts are much more precise, you should like it once u get used to it!

i love it ,i already got used to it. no more harsh shifts. hope the twm bearing lasts long though, it looks like its exposed to dirt/moisture/salt.

You guys have to try the srynchromesh oil . Do a search on the forum , only satisfided poeple . I myself have it in my tranny for over 20 000 km and i don't have a single problem . Shift are all smooth , never grind . It's perfect . The oil grade is actually comparable to 70W80 according to some testings but there's no grade , it's a special oil . Some poeple autocross and stuff and have synchromesh in there tranny for over 120 000 km without a problem . So i would not woory . They even put synchromesh in honda trannys .

Isn't this the stuff we're talking about? It is sold under the GM/Pennzoil Synchmomesh label?

HONDA's typically require a 10w40 oil in their transmissions, so I'm not certain this is a good comparison. That being said I've heard a lot of good things about this product. I tend to like the idea of mixing it with a "heavier" gear oil.

equivalent products: Quaker State Synchromesh, Texaco Synchromesh, GM Synchromesh, AC Delco Synchromesh...

well i left my car on the driveway for 2 days straight without moving it, and apparently theres an oil leak... what are the chances that its my tranny oil dripping... since i just changed it, the bolts were tightened how could this be???? damn im mad

Can you look and see where it is coming from? In the light, you should be able to tell if it is coming from the plug.

There is not much that can go wrong when you change the fluid. I believe there is a valve that lets the excess fluid out if you overfill too bad. Maybe that is what is happening.

ohh really??? because i did put the entire 3 bottles ( a quart each) that was too much for our transmission right?? you're serious though, theres a valve that lets excess oil out?? wow i feel relieved if thats what the problem was. and where is it located this valve?

I think there is something like that, yes. I remember reading about it in one of the transmission threads. If I remember correctly, it is on the "top" of the transmission (I think you can see it by opening the hood).

I do not claim that this is 100%. I just remember coming across it at one point.

Maybe someone could second that?

3 bottles does not seem like an excessive amount though.

Hm, sorry to hear that.

I would try to look where it is coming from.

yeah i'll be looking under the car tomorrow morning. if there's nothing there then what you suggested is right with the valve for the excess oil to flow out most probably its that. i cant imagine that the bolt isnt on tight enough its impossible. thanks for the help i'll let you know the story tomorrow morning

Okay, cool. Let us know how it goes.

Alright took it to my trusted mechanic, apparently the bolt to drain wasnt tight enough, so he turned it a quarter turn an he said should be fine. There wasnt any oil on the floor though this morning, weird, anyways im glad thats done. (first)

I gotta do this again to my car soon. I switched to Redline at like 40k miles and I'm at 62500 now. I bought Mobil1 because it was available locally so I'll see how it compares. I just need to buy a 23mm socket because my sets only go up to 21.

dont use mobil 1!!! at least not in the trans. i used it and it was almost as bad as the stock fluid was! just get redline again, that way u know exactly what to expect bc u have dealt wit it before!

The redline felt no different than my stock fluid when I changed it? (shrug)

I noticed a difference when I put in Amsoil 75w-90 Synthetic at 30K miles. Will use it again when I change it in 17K miles.
