Switching keys

If I wanted to get the Mazda "switch-blade" key, could I just go to the dealer and have them exchange it for me? I'm pretty sure they're the MS3 keys and I have a regular Mazda3 hatchback, but I like having the keyless remote and key in one unit like our Mercedes has.

the mazdaspeed3 did not come with the flip-up key, I think the mpv and the cx-7 did? Im not totaly sure, but mazda does sell blank flip up keys that you can have cut to work for your car. I def dont think its cheap tho. Try a search, there were interested members when the ms3 was rumored to have this flip key and you might be able to find some info on it

Flip Key does not work In MS3

THe key it self can be cut to our key. But the controls in the remote wont work at all. It is a waste of time to buy it and then figure it out. Mazda wont sell it for MS3

the keys cost around 300 bucks to replace (the flip up keys) so id expect it to be around that price range

The MS6 has it, its one of my second favorite features next to the windows that roll down as I walk up to the car, and obviously... that little turbo awd thing, thats kind of neat :D. Does the MS3 have the window rolling down thingy (i have no idea what else to call it)???

yea, i miss it from the audi too...

but with the audi, we had to use a RossTech Vag-Com to program the central locking module to roll the windows down when the unlock is pressed, and up when the lock is pressed...

try pressing on the unlock button on the remote and then press it a second time, but hold it
at least that's how it worked on hondas

if i was gonna go with any keys it would be the credit card push button that comes in the CX-7's.

HOTT HOTT HOTT.

You can get a flip key for you car. On all '04-'06 models you can get the flip key, and the flip remote for a Mz6 and they'll run you about $75 cut to your car and shipped to your door from www.onlinemazdaparts.com. There are obviously other places to buy from, but Jason's always taken care of me.

Now if you have a 2007 and you're in the states then you're slightly screwed. Mazda changed the Keyless Entry Module in the '07 US model so that the Mz6 remote will no longer work with the car. To get around this you can replace the KEU with that from Canadian models and then get flip keys to work with that. Altogether that will run you around $250-300. That's the only way to get then in '07 (speed or regular) models in the US until another key is found that works with the new KEU.

That's disappointing, thanks for the info though. I gave my dealership "s***" for not getting a flip-key when I bought my MS3. We at least could've gotten a cool looking key (Think STi) :D
