hello i have a quick question, does anyone know if i can do a clean swap out of a 2.0L protege into a msp? is there anything extra that i have to buy to make the swap work

define "Clean Swap"? a regular protege engine doesnt have a turbo, so, in my eyes, you CANNOT do a clean swap correctly.

its the same engine, so yes but you will need to either use your oil pan and other things, so just swap the long block.

so do you think that its possible to do a clean swap of the long block, because thats what i need, so is it the same block for the 2.0L protege with the msp?

no. the oil return line is routed to the crank girdle plate. you will have to change that over.

the basics of the engines are the same, but there are subtle differences. once you have both engines on stands next to each other, you will have to swap some parts over before you can drop the new one in.

what kind of parts? and is it a PITA do do the swap?

i think you are can swap engines, you can swap the little parts over. if you cant swap the little parts, you have no bussiness swapping engines.

if is just little parts its ok, i was just wondering if there are any major parts that i have to change

Try searching the forum. You will find all your answers. Its not hard to search, I did.

And yes the motors are the same...... exactly the same! Just swap all the MSP stuff over to your short block and you are good to go. Search what needs to be swapped over. Torque to spec and have fun.
