Swap motor

1.6 is a ZM engine, 1.8 is an FP i believe and 2.0 is an FS engine

the 1.8 and 2.0 share the same block, slightly longer stroke on the 2.0 liter. they make 128 and 130 crank horsepower respectively. many aftermarket parts for the 2.0 will fit up to the 1.8 and vice versa.

the 1.6 shares nothing in common with the 1.8 or 2.0

I believe the 1.8 is also a FS not FP

And Some people had swaped automatic tranny to manual? Is it very Hard ?

I think you are getting over your head here. If you've got a 1.6l engine with auto, figure @ 6psi turboed, tops. Face it, you've got a slow as hell Protege with an automatic tranny. If you're gonna sink all this money into it by swapping engines and trannies, just buy another car.

upgrade to a lentech valve body and upgraded tranny cooler with redline atx fluid, u can hold up to 10 psi , great for a daily driver, or rebuild the auto with the parts above by a proffessional and he can get it to hold 400whp if he knows what he is doing..

Boost

I am driving a manual 1.6L. Say if i were to boost only to abt 7-8psi on stock internals with no added or modded injectors, will it works? Only with custom exhaust manifold, intercooler, turbine. Probably with SAFC to tune it.

Can my ride take it for daily use? Wish to drive it for another 5yrs or so...

And wat would be the expected gain? 50whp for 7-8psi?

I read somewhere you would probably be at 100% duty on those injectors. I think
someone on this forum has dynoed the Hiboost kit at 7 or 8 psi and gained alot more than 50whp. Dont take my word for it though do a search. I would link you up but I dont even know how to post correctly.

at 7-8psi you're looking at 100hp increase. i think stock 1.6 is at 83ish whp ... 7-8psi gets you around 180-190ish whp with the hiboost kit. Juan dynoed one at 9psi at 201whp if im not mistaken
u would need to upgrade injectors.
