I'm with Ben on this one...screw the mp3...pay off some principal to lower your payments (with like 30% or so of your winnings), invest the rest...when "the rest" appreciates back up to the amount that you originally won, take that, and throw on top the money you've been saving on your monthly payments (this will probably take a couple years, but hey, most of us have 5yr loans anyway) and go check out the coolest car on the 2005-2006 market (although I personally will never ever buy a new car again; used baby, used (10-15k miles)) ...use the money to only make payments on that car and nothing else...boom, a pesudo free car; because you're not taking money out of your paycheck to pay for it...ok, I've typed too long :) Good luck and damn you at the same time :)

What I want to know is, what's the obsession with putting a v6 in a protege. People in search of power should either Turbo their motor or sell their Protege and get a faster car. The V6 swap talk is pretty silly to even discuss. Even with the swap, you'd still get pounded by a Turbo'd Protege owner.

MAN!!! I was hoping I'd win the lottery yesterday- I didn't even get one number! One!!! ahaha.. Lucky bastard!! I'd talk with Terry and get his stage 3 kit and rebuild the engine as well. Then, along with the microtech you'll be able to run CRAZY boost levels.

Hmmm.. If I won about 20 grand what would I do? Probably pay off a lot of my debts and then trick my car even more.

I'd also donate a good amount to this board!

That is by far one of the BEST posts of all time on this site...Bravo!!! (thumb) hehe

Seriously though...we appreciate the comment...now start buying them lotto tickets!!!

Its a 2.0 Mazda engine with forged everything and oil squirters very cool idea and it has VICS which is a special type intake that has a lil butterfly valve that when the engine is starting to die out around 4500rpm this butterfly valve opens and boom u get a second way of intake air and the engine just embelishes itself in air and when u have a turbo with this system its like having a second boost after the turbo has already spooled. If u have any questions just ask.
Peace,
Zane

We all have that butterfly/longer intake runner system.

Austin, pay off a lot of the car, put $ into development for a better tranny, throw the site a few $, and go with spoolin's soon to be Stage 4 kit. :D

Hey Kool by no means do we have vics on our engine! Its almost like v-tec but in a Mazda engine and done differently. It does this by opening up another source of air.
Peace,
Zane
I wish our engine had vics!!

VTEC has to do with cams, VICS has to do with intake runners. If you look on the passenger side of the back of your block, you'll see the butterfly.

Invest the money or...........
Build up your internals throw a turbo w/ engine managment and boost the piss out of the motor. Hell be the fastest street driven protege in the world.....haha 300-350whp. Just with that much power things will break.

Or (dont flame me please) buy a old hatch civic cx. Drop in a fully built LS vtec built for boost, LS tranny and a Hondata and boost 18psi. Throw some cools spoon wheels on there and nice Mugen ans spoon parts, put a full JDM interior (i.e Red recaro's ect) And have a 400hp monster............

(flame2) (flame2) (flame) (guns)(flame2) (flame2) Just kidding.
I say get a highly renown shop to reinforce the entire drivetrain (with custom components) to be able to handle 500 whp! It's the missing link in extreme horsepower proteges. Then get forged internals and the like (I stated in my other post). If you don't have any more money after custom tranny, axles, lsd,and forged internals that's okay. ;) You will be closer to the fastest MP3 than anyone will ever be. Now you can save up and get the things that are already out there to buy. (huge turbo, kits, engine management, etc.) You'll be cranking out 10 second passes in no time!

Holy sh*t! I can't belive I didn't think of this sooner! You could just give ME the money. No need to thank me, I know....I'm a genious! Come on......

See, it costs too much to make this car extremely fast. Don't be stupid, invest the money in a mutual fund. 5 years from now when it's $20000 instead of $15000 you will thank yourself for doing it. Then go buy the M3.

Baaahhhh

To easy to be like everyone else...

Build your MP3 to compete in SCCs Ultimate Street Car challenge.

Obviously Tripoint was able to build a proteg mean enough to take on bimmers and integs...so it has proven potential to be a serious competitor.

It all depends how serious you are and how streetable you plan to keep the car.

that's what I plan on having exactly sitting in my garage, when I get my real job, hehe, will be my lovley autocross daemon/drag racer.

Also, take into consideration that Roger Foo and all his bad ass racing cars, including his newest yellow P5 whoop all the ass in the world, and he only spends about 15,000 on em, total.

If I was you, I'd probably n/A out the engine modeled after Roger foo's car, which is about 250hp, put some tein's on the car, do some crazy custom interior, wheels, sound system, get carbon fiber hood, ground effects, go ahead and suicide your doors while you are at it, heh. Really I'd rather have a show car than a car that stalls at lights after a race - but gets 400hp.

As for you Ben - why woudl he want to pay the insurance on an M3? He has an MP3 for a reason - cheap. Even when I'm rich/if I'm rich, I'd never buy some stupid expensive car just for the name and gadgets, I'd rather own a very common car - just totally customized beyond recognition. I'd rather have 15,000$ in making a civic a show car, than a 30,000 car with a lovley stock rentacar feel.

In case you didn't know, Roger Foo's motor is built by a company called Sun Belt that is subsidised by Mazda, so all the World Chalange Protege's are running pretty much the same motor. That's why they finished so high in the manufacturers points.

I hope you are kidding. If you had the money you would buy a POS civic and make it a show car? You must be hitting the crack pipe. As soon as I have money, which is in about 4 more years, I will be done with cheap imports, and I'll move on to REAL cars like the M3. If you could afford the M3 and you chose the civic over the M3,.....that's just stupid,.....that's pretty much all I have to say about that.

big_ben,

I've owned two high performance German vehicles:
1. 928 4.5 liter V8 Euro 5 speed Porsche
2. 924 Turbo Porsche

........and many other domestic high performance cars. Let me suggest a couple of things. BTW, while having these cars, I too Owned a 2001 Honda Civic, 2002 Honda Civic and a 98 Honda Accord...and now my Mazda P5......

Sure, these cars(German) are fun and very well designed and built, but I still "VERY much enjoyed and took pride in the Import scene...and many times found myself enjoying much, much more!!!!

1. Parts for both of my Porsche's, where "OUTRAGEOUS"!!!..when something messed up...which it will given enough time( I owned both for over 10 and years)....specialized mechanics where needed, when there was only so much I could have done.
2. Regular maintenance was annoying and too pricey.
3. I constantly worried about someone messing the car up when I took it out because of the money I'd invested into them. Which could be said for any car...but I was really bad with these..LOL!
4. 300 + HP, was great......but a horrible gas guzzeler...which over time became "VERY" annoying, especially when I commute over 100 miles to work each day....so most of the time the cars just sat in the garage.
5. Insurance was CRAZY! and if I wrecked the cars...I'd never would have gotten the money back out of them, for a fraction of the invested amount.

Anyway, my point is, sure I enjoyed these car tremedously, but when the smoke cleared, I found myself enjoying the Imports more due to the same reasons you guys bought yours without having a vehicle with "High" social status sterotyping......so I sold all those cars and kept my imports. I think, people such as yourself get wrapped up in the "high" status vehicles and forget, that we just love cars...peace!

BTW, I do agree with your advice and apply the money toward the principle!!!!

you said you have over 15,000? first off, think about what you really want. if you are going to go turbo, think of all the direct and indirect costs associated with it. it'll cost you alot more than $5000 to do all of that. and after doing all that, it will definitely make your car go faster, but your car will depreciate alot and you'll be losing alot more than you initially thought. so invest the money into mutual funds/securities and after you put it in, you'll forget about it and 10 yrs down the road that 15k will be alot more than you expect.
