subaru offering 6k off msrp + 0% financing for up to 63 mos

Uh, yes, actually it is. I know of no fewer than 5 2008's in my local area with this problem. 4 were stock, one was modified but spent 10k on the stock tune.

Now, if anyone wants to pony up the stock map for a MS3, Ill be more than happy to take a look at it. I guarantee that it doesnt have these issues though, as there are plenty of people, stock and otherwise, that arent having these types of failures.

well, atleast you have local experience...it's better than relying on what the internet says. that is a problem we have today, haha. if you look on this forum and the msf.org, you'll also see alot of people who have blown up low mileage ms3s with limited mods. the problem is, alot on a forum is nothing compared to a nation or world filled with the cars. my ms3 and everyone i personally know has had no problems. same thing with the new STI. i know of 3 running around here with no problems....

while the notion of 'nothing is perfect' is true, and it's even more true in the world of high strung performance cars put through their paces, i'm curious if this problem is so obvious to the STI crowd, how come there hasn't been a recall? or has there?

but, moreover...the point was that the cars were sitting on the lots because they were 40k, not because they are all lemons. i researched the STI pretty well because i had considered it, and aside from the normal stuff on internet forums that 'this car is junk' or 'that car is junk', i didn't see anything different than what people were saying about the ms3 being junk. you know?

builthatch, I'm surprised you aren't already on the Subby forums talking about how much you love your new 08 STI..

I bolded the problem. Im talking about stock cars. And there has been a complete reflash campaign for all 2008 STI's. Subaru did their best to sweep it under the rug in 07 and they are doing their best in 08 as well. There was also a reflash campaign for the 2007 STI's. Unfortunately, they are losing sales left and right because of it, and Im a prime example. Besides, I know a few techs at other dealerships who are seeing the same across the southeast region, and most of these people dont even know what NASIOC is.

Furthermore, the price on the STI isnt 40k unless you get the BBS wheels and the nav package. A base model is 35k, with invoice being close to 32.5k. You would easily be out the door for 35k on a base model, probably 37k on a fully loaded one. The BBS wheels are overrated, as there are better, lighter aftermarket options that you can stuff much larger tires on. :) We wont even bother discussing the nav though, everyone knows OEM navs suck and Tom Toms are cheap.

Regardless, I still bought my MS3 for considerably less than an STI.(lol2)

*** THIS IS ONLY FOR THE STI ***

so for the first time since having the car i am seriously tempted
to trade her in. a new 2008 STI can be had for 29 +TTL right now.
the promotion started today @ 1pm

6-7k off msrp depending on dealer, and 0% for up to 63 mos.
my payments would go up 50 a month and i would add a year to my loan.

pros: faster, awd, plenty of aftermarket choices

cons: uglier than the ms3, 3-4mpg less per gallon, insurance[/QUOTE
damn how long are you planning on financing this thing for? and whats the % after 63 mos.?

nah, the thing could be 20K, i never get first year cars. every car i've gotten in my life going back to 1997 has been a second year car of a given generation run. though when it (the new STI) first came out i was plenty tempted. the price is what killed it for me. hey, i love my ms3, but i don't love how finicky it is when it comes to true tuning and true tuning is what it'll take to make this thing fast enough for me. but, other than that, no complaints though considering how i have it set up. it's been good to me.

ahh, i c. so are they reflashing them on the showroom floor too, like unsold units get the reflash to remedy the issue?

indeed ; )

Thats right. Newer units (supposedly) come with the correct flash from the factory. Older ones were covered under the reflash campaign.

lol im not financing it for 63 mos, im just saying u can finance it for up to 63 @ 0% apr. if i were to do it, it would be 60 mos most likely and pay off in 3-4 years instead of the 5. i'm on schedule right now to pay off my ms3 in 2.5 years instead of the 5 it's termed for. i tend to pay extra every chance i get.

edit: so i sent out a few more emails for dealers farther away. i got 2 that would match sherman oaks 28,640 price. i need to go test drive it and see if i like it.
i plan to do this saturday since these dealers are farther away (1-1.5hrs)

i owe a hair under 16 for my ms3 (08 sunlight silver 10,400 miles) , hopefully i can expect 18-19k for trade in, which would make my payments ~500 a month, so i would pay a little more a month and add a year of payments.

You're only going to get the 0% with over a 700 credit rating. You're also gonna be lucky to get 15-17. Why do people think they're getting anywhere trading in new cars?

fico not a problem, online guides show 19k, i dont expect that, but hopefully 18.
i got an offer of 19k 2 mos ago with about 1000 less miles on her when i was thinking about trading in for an s2000 :D

Christ almighty...they're desperate!!

yea and they're willing to give OVER 8k off w/o even asking for it. i just got a reply from them.

The vehicle you inquired about is still available and still in stock. The price of $27640 is based off of the base model STi which you inquired about a BBS package. The exact vehicle's MSRP you inquired about is $38372. I will beat the $8000 discount but I cannot hold any of these vehicles right now. They're all on a first come first serve basis. How soon can you make it in to take advantage of this great deal?

HOLY s***! That's unbelieveable. I've never seen an STI get discounted almost 10k. They really must be hurting in sales, or like someone else said, the new 2010's are coming out extremely early.

As long as they're willing to update the car's ECU with the revised tune and willing to say it'll be covered under warranty, I wouldn't mind driving one!

haha, that is freakin' unbelieveable. imagine being one of the people who bought one before this? i would be so pissed.

rumor is the 2010 sti will feature a dfi motor, maybe this is why they are dumping 08's ? since they were awfully expensive to begin with

Well I called back my contact about the STI and he is going to look into the rebates. Either way, he said the most he could give me for my 08 MS3 with 3900 miles would be 17000. MS3 isn't going anywhere!

yep im not gonna accept 17 or less, so it looks like i'll be keeping my car also :)

i have 2 appts with chino hills subaru, and south coast subaru tomorrow, i'll ask them trade in value first cuz if it's that low, no point going further. they both offered me over 8k off msrp.

I'm fairly content with the car other than I'd like the larger interior room of the STI. But nothing worth rolling 5k, that's a lot of modding I could do.
