Sub blew out.

Okay so my stock sub blew out.

Now i have 3 options.

1. i can pick up the stock one from drizz oh on m6c and not have to worry about the installation.

2. replace the stock sub with an after market one.

3. replace the stock sub with an after market one and also replace all of the speakers.

help me out here im stuck...

Also if anyone would be kind enough to post some pics of their set up, that would be great.

open the rear deck up.
take out the sub.
make a mounthing baffle for a 10 to fit in the 9's spot.
wire up an amp.
tidy it all up.
done.

*thats what i would do if i was only looking for a little thump.
(Make sure the sub is for an infinite baffle setup though)

i was running 1500Wrms at 1 ohm to a 15 inch RD audio heavyweight v2. was in a 3.5 cubic foot box tuned to 35 hz.
no pics since its not in my car. 100 extra lbs really was noticable on the powerband.

damn that 100 extra pounds does not sound very well to me.

i think i might just take the easy route and get an oem sub to replace the blown out one.

it was stupid loud for one sub in still too small of a box.

the sub alone weighs 45lbs, the amp is 15, the box made up the rest. I have a lighter more musical replacement i could use which only weighs 28lbs. but still when your car weighs 3600lbs before i get in it, need to save as much weight as possible lol.

there is not enough power to run anything bigger then a remote turn on for a large amp. You will need to run power from the + on the battery to the amp, then a nice solid ground. Then your power issues are solved.

The stock amp mounted to the basket of the stock sub contains all the low level and remote turn on signals you will need to tap into.

There is a fantastic how to on this site of how to do this so i will leave that up to you to find it.

Follow it carefully and it will work out great.

so anyone know how to remove the stock sub?

You have to remove the rear deck cover to gain access to the bolts on the subwoofer.
1) disconnect battery (don't want to accidentally set off airbags)
2) Flip down your rear seats
3) Remove the seat side bolsters (might be optional)
4) Remove the C-pillar panels (careful not to disturb airbag canisters)
5) Remove all clips attaching the rear deck cover
6) Pull the rear deck cover out

Replace with stock sub, & turn down your bass.
