stupid cobalt ss

they are soo small. I tried to get in a 2 door cobalt ls coupe @ the dealer and had to tilt my head to even sit still in the drivers seat. yes, I could lean the seat way back and not hit the ceiling, but that's not a safe long term solution. The speed 3 was a far better fit for me. Tons of room for taller/bigger people.

First off, I'm not trying to justify anything. Im happy with my purchase
It sounds like you're justifying things when you say stuff like "It's going to be a sad day for a 08 Cobalt SS turbo owner when he / she runs into a MS3 with a few bolt-ons." and "Depends too much on who's driving them especially with the MS3 as it doesn't have mechanical shenanigans that do everything for you like the cobalt SS with the no lift shift and launch control." It sounds a bit fanboy.
I think you are so hell bent on claiming the Cobalt SS as such a better performing
No, I just think it's a car. A car that performs about as well as the MS3. And I've seen a number of threads on these forums where a car that performs about as well as the MS3 gets bashed a lot because it's not an MS3.
I have simply pointed out that the performance capabilities between the MS3 and the Cobalt SS are so minor that it really doesnt matter from that aspect.
No, it doesn't matter, so there is no reason for us to make excuses for our car.
We all know by now what a difference a simple intake and exhaust modifications and do to a stock MS3 (Massive gains)
We have no idea how well the SS will respond to mods, and it doesn't really matter anyway because you can throw enough money at any problem to make it go away. No reason to assume we mod better or worse, no reason to act like it matters.
Im just pointing out some important aspects to consider before jumping on the new Cobalt ban wagon as some have already seemed to do.
Fair.
Flame away!
Not flaming.

I just love how you take bits and pieces out of my post and respond to them (ghey)

Anyways this is going no where have a nice night.

most of the ss cobalt guys don't talk s*** on the ms3 as much as ms3 guys talk s*** about all the other cars to include the cobalt. too much bitching going on here.

i hope that all of the ones who pick races with each other on the streets have flashing red and blue in their future...and if they want to b**** about it, so be it...but they can't dispute they weren't in the wrong

it's a car...be glad with your purchase...end

Who was saying that they weren't glad with their purchase? Please explain and back up with facts.
And yes if you street race and a cop catches you you'll be trouble, what's new about that?
I actually didn't see too much s*** talking just ppl expressing their opinion. Is there a problem with that?

I think this statement sums it up nicely.

"Cobalt SS is a lot of car for the money. The only problem is the competition -- specifically, the Mazdaspeed3. On paper, Cobalt matches up well with the 'Speed3, but the Mazda is more refined, better looking and more fun to drive. With its four doors and hatchback, it is also more useful on a day-to-day basis. If you can step up closer to the $30,000 mark (or beyond), the Subaru WRX STi and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution will reward your generosity with racetrack-ready performance that will challenge your ability to keep your driver's license. Personally, I'd spend my hard-earned dollars on the Mazdaspeed3"

I'm certainly not bashing the car I just will not go as far to say it just "raised the bar" and all this other bs. Yes it performs well but it's not like it's running 5.0 (0-60) or 13.5 1/4's and 1.0 g's on the skid pad, etc.

I agree; the SS is definitely another car to consider if you are shopping the sub-$25K pocket rocket segment. However, I don't believe it stands head and shoulders above anything else in its market.

I'm pretty sure my neighbor just bought one. I'll have to make a point of talking to them about it.

While I do prefer the MS3, the writer of that article seemed just a little biased. Especially on the second page:

What Jason liked about the Chevrolet Cobalt SS:
Turbocharged power
Great seats
Quite talented on the track

What he didn't like:
Limited headroom when equipped with a sunroof
Interior lacks differentiation from lesser Cobalts
It's not a Mazdaspeed 3

Who should buy the Chevrolet Cobalt SS:
Fans of the Chevy SS legacy who simply must buy American

Who should not buy the Chevrolet Cobalt SS:
Drivers who hate looking at those Mazdaspeed3 taillights

I mean, so much for objective journalism

so if you think there's no problem with ppl expressing their opinions, why do you single out ones and ask them questions. seems like you only pick out the opinionated ones who go against your reasoning or beliefs

On paper, Cobalt matches up well with the 'Speed3, but the Mazda is more refined, better looking and more fun to drive. With its four doors and hatchback, it is also more useful on a day-to-day basis. You will also want to check out the Honda Civic Si and the Nissan Sentra SE-R. If you can step up closer to the $30,000 mark (or beyond), the Subaru WRX STi and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution will reward your generosity with racetrack-ready performance that will challenge your ability to keep your driver's license. Don't tell the Chevy faithful that I said that, though. Cobalt SS owners are a very tight-knit community -- check out CobaltSS.net for a sampling. I admire their passion -- I just don't share their taste in cars. -- Jason Fogelson
