Thanks for the heads up on the EGR. Haven't done my 5 yet. Have done past cars but you can't clean the spring on some.

And my local NAPA store doesn't even have them listed!!!!!

How can rockauto sell them for 17$

Plus, I'm not that comfortable with buying off the internet.

Ordered from them several times. Very pleased with the prices, parts,a dn shipping times. I get all of my spark plugs from them. They are reputable. And yes much cheaper then the dealer or napa.

I just got back from protegegarage to replace EGR valve and 1st cat
wow...I don't know if this is just my feeling but car runs really better, no more low idle and I have compared old EGR to new one and New one had some kind heat shield around them where old one didn't have one.
I hope my car runs forever now

update:...CEL came on NO!!!!!!!!! but car runs fine...'I think it's o2 sensor...
if changing o2 sensor doesn't work...I seriously don't know what to do...

are you two kidding me? I knew the standard motor products were back ordered but they said that they had plenty of the Airtex. THey best I could say is check with customer service as of when they expect to get some. Seems to be a hot item, especially at that price.



On a side note. Yesterday I replaced the precat 02sensor, cleaned the EGR, regapped my spark plugs, and reset the ECU. So far no codes, RPM's are stable and accelerates much better. Waiting for the code to come back to see if the cat is bad.

I have been searching. Do you all know where the thread is about the idle increasing and decreasing from about 1500 to 500 on its own? I am going to check some more.

but I know it was way way way cheaper than any other local dealer.

I paid $23 from the dealer for the backups I carry. They tried to tell me $100 but I told then they were looking at the wrong ones. then magically he foudn the right ones. The dealership does sell the correct packs for around 23 bucks, you got sucker'd man, those bastards!!!!

Hey guys i also have a misfire problem.

i own a Pro ES 2001 with 98000km / 61000miles.
Heres what it does

My idle is very stable, no problem with the o2 or something. sometimes(1 on 30 attempt), when i start my car, the it idles at 200-300 RPM then when i put gas it goes to normal forever. ( no check engine this is not the problem)

the problem happened twice to me this week. last time i was driving at around 45miles/h then i lost power from my engine. The engine wasnt BUCKing, it was very stable, but the car dropped to 40, 35,30, 25, 20 even if i downshifted and put full gas. It top speed at around 22. It was like driving a PERFECT CONDITION 30 HP car.

that happened twice to me. first time i changed my spark plugs, now i dont know what to do. having the misfire code with the scanner.

whats wrong ? coil pack problem? i get them from the dealer? how many do i need?
