i need help

i just got some eibach springs and i need info on struts. i've heard that the only good struts for the p5 are the tokico blues but i've also heard that they arent being sold yet.

if they are,

how much do they cost?

how is the ride quality?

are they hard to install?

and please dont say i should get jic coilovers. i'll get some eventually:D

The Tokico blue struts (on MP3 and MSP) are around 400ish on mazdastuff.com; They currently have none in stock, so you have to let them know ahead of time to get it. I've sat in the MSP with Tokico blue struts and RB springs, they're acceptable. However, do realize if you have Eibach springs and putting a Tokico struts will definetly make your ride a bit stiffer than having it on stock struts.

Else, you can probably get the actual MSP struts, I believe the damping is adjustable. Lastly, maybe you can check out Koni, I believe Rishie is dealing with Koni in producing an adjustable struts for the P5, so Rishie would be the person to talk to about Koni.

Lastly, else go with JIC coilover ^.^ v

i've put 8K miles on my stock struts and haven't had a problem yet. just ride around on your stockies till they blow, then worry about replacements. tokico just came out with the illumina's for the protege line (finally after about a two year wait), and they're 5-way adjustable. between the msp struts and the illumina's, i'd go with the illumina's in a heartbeat.

Koni Does Offer Strut Inserts for your car. We would need your Original Strut Housing. They are Externally Adjustable (Only Rebound). They will run $700 for the set and there are no fitment issues with your stock strut housing. Ride Quality can be changed depending on what you want the car to do. You can put it on full soft for daily driving and when you go to the track just tighten them up until you feel whats best for the car.

Eibach springs are designed to be used with the OEM struts so there is no reason to get new struts unless your stock ones are shot already.

Yep, I forgot to mention that. Eibach engineer told me in person that Eibach springs are designed to work with OEM struts. However, they do recommend in changing to performance struts. I believe alot of people on this board are running Eibach with OEM struts, which will probably hold for about a year and you'll start feeling the springs get soft. Though, it's not the spring that got soft, is the struts that are wearing out.

I've seen struts advertised for the 99-00 protege. Would these fit on a 01+? Compatability issues? Are the springs the same design between all the different 3rd gens?

i have msp struts that im selling!!! no back order with me...looking to sell for about 300-350, retail for like 500 new. have about 14,000 miles on them. pm me if you want them
