Strut tower bar kit question

hi-perf

do not modify your car
:
1999 Protege ES
ok ive got brackets and bar from an MP3.

as we all know that the mp3 did not come with cruise control. however i happen to have that option

i ordered the bracket for cruise, but i think they screwed me over and gave me the stock brass cruise bracket.

now im thinking the bracket for fitting cruise control models is the entire black bracket and not the brass one.

does anyone have a part number or can advise me on how to modify my brass pieces (i now have two to experiment on) to fit?

TIA guys

If I'm not mistaken (but it does happen-ALOT) it is actually the bar itself that is different for the models with cruise, not the mounting brackets.........

Actually, from my experience with installing an ebay strut tower brace, its not that big of a deal. When you get a tower brace from mazda, it should come with a cruise control relocation bracket- but lacking that you can cut about 2/3 of the front bolt area on the bracket off and the brace will mount up with no problem. The bracket is still held by two bolts and most of the 3rd bolt so you shouldn't have any issues. I have been running with that setup for about 2 months(?) now..

I forgot to post the link..

the page is a mess but you should get the idea

yeah, thats what i think too...

i dont have a brass bracket though

So you know I love you guys, but it is a relo bracket, not a different bar- here's a quote from essential speed, and corksport has the same info on their site(for some reason I can't access them right now though.)

Mazda Protege 5 strut bar
This 4 point strut was designed by Cp racing for Essential Speed. This 4 point setup tightens your front end up for traction and cornering.

The bar is the same, it is the brackets that are different. You need the adaptor brackets for the cruise control.
