so what's a slight upgrade from the w0?
Two W0s!

Unless you plan on buying or building a subwoofer box, you really don't have many options. The W0 is one of the few subs that is shallow enough to fit in the stock enclosure.

i guess i might go that route. i have a sub and 1000watt amp at home but i wanna keep it light.
will a 8w3 fit? there is a tweeter over by work, i think i'm going to check it out on break. can you haggle deals w/ them there?

does anyone upgrade their amp wiring at all?
i got a bunch of 4g just sitting around and i can get 8g for free.

the whole reason I wanted to upgrade is not so much that the stock set up was that bad, its that I wanted more low end bass, and when I turn up the stock system it rattles the back deck something fierce.....upgrading the woofer to a higher quality 8" is nice but if you really want a nice audiophile system I would go with a sealed or ported box made of some thicker MDF or plywood....

well, i offically hate all of you. j/k
I just went and ordered one. (cabpatch) it will be here on Thursday hopefully. :)

well i would of sprung for the w3 but it was a lot more $$. is it worth the extra money?
and what if you put a dvc sub in there?

i went to tweeter and they had the w0 out of stock so i ordered one. it was $90 and i talked him down to $80 so it was $85 w/ tax. still doesn't seem that bad right?

I think my W3 was $120.

BTW, I wired my 4 ohm voice coils in parallel. I am running 2 ohms off the stock amp and have no problems. I don't play the music that loud though.

so have we come to the conclusion the amp is a two channel bridged at 4 ohms? i figured it would possibly be mono, and run speakers off the HU

not my name, this is his bro

Its hard for me to come to a conclusion when I know exactly what amp model it is and could resight its stats.
It is a 2 channel amp that is bridged to the factory subwoofer which is an 8 ohm load to aviod heat issues with the amp being inverted. The amp can handle a 4 ohm load but I would reposition it.

Is it an 8W3v2D4?
I would rewire it to be seriesed. A 2 ohm load will kill that amp in a short term if it doesn't go into protection which saying kenwoods protection circuits fail is repeditive within its self.

i will let you guys know how the sub is when i get it.
how does the old one come out? i dont think i've ever looked at it. haha

Yes, it is a dual 4ohm. I would agree with you that a 2 ohm load should kill the amp, but it hasn't and it has been running that way for a while. If it does, I buy a new amp:) I tried it in series at 8 ohms and didn't like the way it sounded as much.
