Is there a fix for this, or is this just simply the fuel problem that all msp's have?jaymode said:ok i do not understand why everyone thinks that it is the gas that is causing the pinging. If you look at the dyno with the a/f you see that it is above 13 at the top of the rpm band and I am pretty sure you do not want to be above 12.2-3 with our cars that high in the rpm band and that is what is causing the pinging.
Switching fuels will not correct the lean problem. You are making good power because it is running so lean but that is not good for the engine. Your engine could be going boom because of this.
Most of the people who have watched the A/F ratio on the dyno have been rich almost all the way through the RPM range so I would guess there is something up with his car. There was a bit of a "leaner" dip for a split second post flash but for the most part it was still quite rich. Search and you will find all the comments on this topic you can stomach.MazdaSpeed0020 said:Is there a fix for this, or is this just simply the fuel problem that all msp's have?

this is not normal. Our ecu normally dumps fuel after 3k rpm and at stock boost I think our a/f stays in the 11's. It just dumps fuel. His is apparently not doing that or something else is up because he is hitting 13's on stock boost, but whatever it is, it needs to be corrected.MazdaSpeed0020 said:Is there a fix for this, or is this just simply the fuel problem that all msp's have?

Ok, now I'm freaked out. How do I correct this? If it is the tuner computer then I'll get it ASAP, I don't want a huge bill for a blown engine that isn't my fault. Could a boost leak cause these symptoms? I haven't changed out any lines on my car and it has about 9k miles on it. Please keep helping me out on this, I guess it is more serious than I thought.jaymode said:this is not normal. The guys running the dyno did think the car was running a little odd, but they are mainly VW/Audi tuners. They did basically back off after that first run though. So again, what can I do to solve this?mp5jeff said:your car is running WAY to lean, you almost hit a 14 a/f before 6k rpms(you should be at 11), did you ask the people at the dyno if it is correct, if it is, thats why you are pinging...id be carefull driving the car like that..
