Several times now I have had my CD player in my car just completely die - as in, it wont load, eject, play, or even acknowledge its existance. I can do whatever I want to with it, but it will give me whatever I want with AM/FM/AUX/whatever, just as long as I dont try to use the CD player. It will randomly come back when I hit the CD button again, but for all my efforts, it wont do jack when I touch/tap/push/press/jam/punch/pound/hammer the CD button until IT decides it wants to work.

WTF!!!!

Does anybody else have this problem?? Should I just get a new system when I get an amp/sub installed??

I had that problem with my mazda6 non bose stereo...

But I did notice a few weeks ago when I sat in my ms3(in garage) and I turned the key, my bose disc changer was going crazy trying to switch cds... after afew minutes it finally stopped. It had NEVER done that until that day.. I wonder if its because the cars been sitting in the garage since oct...

Oh yes, guess what wants to work this morning when I got in the car to go to the pool??

Bastard stereo CD player from hell........... GRRR!!!!

Don't know if you've seen my threads about the audio system of this car or not, but the stock Bose head unit is a good starting point for building a decent sound system. Granted you're going to have to get yours replaced with a good unit first, but it works fine when connected to the right equipment.

If you do replace it with an aftermarket HU, don't forget that there is no good looking (matching) dash kit available right now. There is this plain-jane black one that looks grotesque IMO, but I suppose you could have it color-matched by a pro.

Take a look around this section, and you'll see those links I'm talking about.
