Sticky Shifting

I took my Speed in because of a sticky shift in first gear, sometimes it would snag a little but still go into gear, other times (more rarely) it would just stop halfway through the throw.

They replaced the shifter lever (I have no idea why) and said I had a cracked bushing, and replaced that as well. Upon picking it up yesterday I have the exact same problem I did before, but now it occurs in gears 1,3,4,5, and it did it once in 6th. Oddly enough second is fine.

Any suggestions, comments, or similar problems would be greatly appreciated.

lmfao wow, mazda warranty work FTL!!

sounds to me like there's something hindering movement somewhere in the shift linkage. not sure why they replaced your lever either, unless they determined that was what was getting in the way, but obviously they were wrong about that no matter the reason.

i'd watch it while you're shifting and check the clearances of the linkage.

yea no kidding, i just hope i didn't open up a can of worms that is going to only create more problems.

also on a side note, I had them rotate my tires while there were at it, the fronts are a 'little' worn. the service receipt said "Less than 20% of tire tread remaining, REQUIRES IMMEDIATE SERVICE ATTENTION" but those tires are on the back now....they are just along for the ride.

and for the record....black mica GT FTW!!!!!

I've been getting the same thing, expecially when the a/c is on. I was in traffic and couldn't get the darn thing in first. I had to let the clutch out, which pushed the shifter back to neutral, and then it went up fine. Its only done that once since that. I'm scared to bring it in. I have the Cobb STS and SU bushings to put in. Might try that to see if it'll fix it.

If not, think they will give me a hard time since all my mods, like CPE CAI, CPE FMIC, CPE Flash (They dont have to know about that :)) SU MM.

I've had this happen on a few manual cars. It's typically normal and not worth having the dealer touch your car. Could just be a synchro tooth or two that's slightly messed up, I don't know really.

Yep, me too. This is my 3rd manual vehicle and theyve all done it do some degree.

Wont go - let out clutch - clutch back in - goes into gear fine (dunno)
