PRINTER port??? How about USB?
Today I had to go buy a new adapter since my printer port adapter is not working anymore. I used this page as a guide:

http://www.stepmania.com/wiki/USB_Adapters

Then I headed down to Fry's to see what they have. The only one they had was a HVG2 PS2 to USB Converter for $20. I picked it up, and came home and looked at that page, and found out that it is just a repackaged, and rebadged Dragon PC Double Powerbox2 (SAM-PCDPB2):

It works great without the drivers installed. Don't install them. After setup, I starte Stepmania, and mapped my arrows in the options menu.

Here are the comments on that adapter from the Stepmania page:

PlayStation ports per adapter: 2
Manufacturer: Dragon? / HVG
Comments: It works great with both my dance mats (included the metal one which has led light too). The model is similar to the previous one but has two ports and the compatibility with dance mats is written (and confirmed by me) among its features.
Comments: My version of this adapter has a black logo in the center instead of a blue one. It works without a driver, and it is about 10ms faster in response time in a side by side comparison with a EMS USB2. Greatly recommended.
User Report:I got this bundled with 2 playstation pads from eBay. What a piece of crap!! No drivers were included, the instruction manual was poorly written, and the device still did not work after finding and installing drivers (of which, I was directed to get by the seller from his website). My computer did not detect the device, and the LED did not even turn on. Save yourself some trouble; if you are going to buy the cheap $30/2 DDR pads off eBay, just pick up an EMS USB2 as well.
User Report: Works great. Only tested with one pad. Dance pad arrow map to buttons 13-16 without any need to start+select or configuring drivers. The model number is SAM-PCDPB2.
User Report: Confirmed working with WinXP and 2 pads. No joystick Axis problem. Just plug the pads in, map the buttons and it's good to go.
User Report: HVG2 adapter is a repacked version of the Dragon adapter. Only cosmetic difference is the packaging and the logo in the center. Included documentation still calls it the Dragon PC Double Power Box2. Works perfect with dance pads ONLY IF the included drivers are NOT installed. Without the drivers, it will map the arrows to both X-/Y-axes and digital buttons 13-16. With the drivers installed, buttons 13-16 do not exist and the arrows will only be mapped to the X-/Y-axes.
