SR Motorsports Power Pulleys

Generally speaking underdrive pulleys are not worth the minimal gains they give. If they are off balance they cause major engine damage over a period or time. They have also been known to fail with the same results. They basically spin the accessories such as a/c, alternator, and power steering slower and free up some parasitic loss in the accessory belt setup. At idle, the alternator could spin too slow, causing voltage to drop, lights to dim, etc. The power steering probably does rob some power all the time but spinning the pump slower will make it harder to turn your wheel. The pulley itself is lighter than stock, but usually lack a harmonic balancer which can be potentially detrimental to your crankshaft.

If you want safer results look into a lightweight flywheel.

What trans do you have in your 3? Auto or manual? My Mazda has an auto trans and I know a pulley really works well. I have a pulley in my '97 Ford Taurus SHO, until I totalled it. The pulley we installed in the SHO was amazing. It really increased the power in the SHO. I have friends with SVT Focus down here and hate the pulley since the SVT comes in a maual trans. They say I should get it since mine has the auto trans.

Cool. I might order those Pulleys. Something to wake my Mazda 3 up even more. Pulley and cat-back Borla is what I'm trying to go for by years end.
