97 miata, when i let the clutch out, i hear a squealing noise, no noise after the clutch is released. clutch seems to hold perfectly. any idea what the problem might be

Sounds like the same issue I had with my 96. You clutch release bearing might be on its way out. I've just gotten used to it.

Or.... you may want to check out your rear diff.
Had the same problem before mine crapped out. But then again, 90-93 rear diffs had their problems. I just adapted a 99 w/ LSD on.... bullet proof and no more problems.:D

If it squeals when you let it out in neutral, it could be a dry pilot bushing. I had a clutch replacement done in one of my former cars, and it had to be torn back down to replace the pilot bushing after I got a very scary squeal every time I released the clutch.

My track car makes a noise like a supercharger while driving. Goes away when disengaging the clutch.

Petjunior,
by "let the clutch out" and "the clutch is released" both mean when the clutch is disengaged (pressing the pedal down). Do you mean when you're releasing the pedal and engaging the clutch?
