hi, over the last few days i noticed that something in side the car is squeaking, like if a spring wasn't oiled or something like that. i think it might be the seat. it gets kinda annoying at higher speeds. has anybody had a problem like that before?

OMG I have been hearing something like this too and it's been driving me nuts. I've moved and checked everything to no avail. Mine goes away with speed however.

Are you sure it's not the seatbelt buckle mechanism? Sprayed mine (at the bolt that secures it to the seat) with WD-40 and the sound hasn't come back in a year.

I have a slight seat squeak and I found that it's actually the side of the seat rubbing against the center console. I adjusted the seat height slightly and the problem went away.

This is a good thing to check out too.

THANK GOD I found this thread. This seat noise has been driving me nuts. Will post back once I find the problem.

lol .. this wasn't the first tread about the squeaky seats, there has been a few. But yea most likely its the bolt holding the buckle. Few drops of oil or wd-40 will work.

same problem back when it was winter time, only i didn't use wd-40, i used white lithium grease. i also use that on all the hinges and locking mechanisms. looks ugly as hell after a while but the doors never squeek and you can just keep going over the old stuff with new stuff. eventually i'll get to those damn dash rattles when it gets cold again

oh and i have a new one as of this summer....at exactly 25mph there's a vibration noise coming from the steering column...worse when slowing past 25 and not so much speeding up through it

Yeah, could be the seat-belt. There's a TSB for it I believe. I had that problem to an extent in the winter but it sort of cured itself once warmer weather came along.

Hey guys,

I also have a squeaky front driver seat in my mazda 6 2006. It's the back seat rest, when I sit and relax my back it squeak.
Is it possible to somehow open the back seat rest and use some spray, wd-40 or something? I have leather seats..

Thanks!

I have recently heard a squeaking sound coming from my passenger seat when it has a passenger, haven't investigated yet.

Old hat here... This has been a problem since the 07 speed hit in Fall of 06. White lithium grease is what the dealership uses on the seat belt bolt if you complain. Next we will here about the dashboard squeak again. :-)

Mine squeaks too, but I don't think its the bolt, it sounds like the seat frame itself or a mounting point. It squeaks as I put the clutch in or let it out. Kind of annoying on a 3 month old car...

I thought it was the seat frame or somewhere underneath. But it turned out to be the belt buckle bolt. For those trying to isolate the problem, next time you hear the squeak, move your belt buckle back & forth to see if it continues. If it doesn't, that's your problem.

god dammit, this makes me so mad. The squeak kills me, and yes, wiggling the belt helps, and it took me like 2 months to figure out where it came from
