squeaking noise from engine on shut off?????

Anyone else have a weird squeaking noise come from the engine after they shut off their ms3? It's sounds like a rusty valve closing...... Any thoughts?

Yeah, it's normal... I believe it's just the crank spinning down and the rotating assembly inside the engine coming to a stop. This car is one of the roughest at shut down I've ever seen. The exhaust sputters out loudly and you hear the squeak/clunk of the crank spinning down.

There's a cooling-down sequence for the turbo. What you hear is a few relays and valves doing their job.

Cranks don't "spin down" -- they stop.

X2, timed relays. Should be about 5 to 7 seconds after the engine is off.

mine does it multiple times as well... sounds like something chirping. just noticed it the other day!
