are these good for the speed3? Tien S-tech lowering springs. A friend told me about them and they are 180 for 4 but it states just the regular mazda3 not a speed. Would these work/be good on the car compared to cobb spring kit which is what i want originally.

yo i literally just oredered them from a place two days ago if you can hold out when i put them in i'll send you pics and write up a review

I know the Tein S-Techs are for a regular 3. The spring rates for the rear should be fine since they're 241 lbs/in but the fronts are like 163 lbs/in. I believe stock MS3's are Front: 188 lbs/in and Rear: 171 lbs/in. So that means the fronts will be soft/floaty/bouncy.

no i got them from a tuning place by my house thats a tein dealer and i was talking to them about the spring rates and they said they did the spring rates like that to greatly decrease squatting and countersteer/oversteer (forget which one it is) im all about the stiffer in the rear we'll see about the softer front

wuts up slave, where did u buy them? how much?

stars, where did you buy urs? how much?

also, what does spring rate mean?

also, what does spring rate mean?

spring rate has to do with the force necessary to compress the spring a certain distance. for instance, if your springs have a 200 lb/in spring rate, it means it would take 200 pounds of force to compress that spring 1". that's for a linear spring rate. if the springs are progressive rate, for each inch you compress them, it's going to require more force to compress it each successive inch, meaning if it takes 200lb to compress it the first inch, it might need 250lb more to go from 1" to 2", 350lb more to go from 2" to 3", etc.

i havent done any shopping around for springs, so i dont know which type they would be, tho my guess is that they'd be linear. someone correct me if im wrong on that.

yo, i bought mine from roadmagnet.com for 230 the drop is about the same as h&r if not a little bit lower. Search for some pics on here. i just got them in and havent put them on yet so i dont know how they are. From what i've read though most people love em.

they should be installed by tuesday considering they'll be here tuesday morning and a lesser spring rate in front wont make them floaty/bouncy or whatever it'll handle better and have a smoother less harsh ride with better performance than stock. and about road magnet....i've never heard of them till i looked on this forum i'd trust a company that's a little better known imo

Just curious, how's that though? its rated like 25 lbs/in less. I would think the ride would be softer making the ride bouncier over bumps.

do a search tho, there are a few pics of peeps with tein springs. I was considering them off ebay as well.

engulfinflames has tein springs, looks pretty nice. BUT the front gets lowered more than the back, so it give that type of street rod look.

here is a thread for a guy with Teins on his:
http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123711405

surprisingly it looks pretty badass on his, but there arent any real direct side shots but you can see how low the fornt is while the rear is still pretty high up there, and on engulfinflames the car was slanted as the front dropped more than the rear.

up to you tho. I was going to get the Teins, but dont want the slanted forward look

just cause the spring rate is less it wouldnt be bouncy yes it'll be softer but your car does have struts lol if your struts are blown then its gonna ride like a pogo stick the progressive rate on the teins will have a less harsh ride but no bounce (drinks)

and yes it'll look slightly raked but i dig it

look at the spring rates on these and tlel me how they would ride

RIDE HEIGHT : Front : -1.6 - Rear : -1.1
SPRING RATE : Front :163 lb/in Rear :241 lb/in

pretty much the same style kit I considered to get. But like I said, search the forum for pics or talk to engulfinflanes or look at the links I posted up above. It drops the front severly and the back sits like normal, giving that downward slowing look

i just picked up my Tein S-Techs last night i'll be installing them shortly and will post pictures so you can see how it looks
