** Spring Buyer's Guide **

dammit with these progress springs, my indecision grows even more! I wish someone could just tell me which springs to get!! This is like 3 months now that I can't decide...I like the Pro-kit's performance, but wish it looked alil lower.

if i were to choose between two very similar items, and one had more performance, the other more appearance....i would lean toward the performance once...it would be more appreciated by enthusiasts and considered functional, purposeful, and a serious racer, and the other might be taken as "ricey." but that's just me, everyone's different, i do like a car thats slammed, but i need balanced suspension and plenty of travel for autocross, but my limiting factor in deciding on products is money

I don't like either of the Eibach springs...the Pro Kit isn't much of a drop & the Sportline isn't a step up in performance from the MSP springs. If you want a good drop AND great performance, I'd recommend the iON race. I decided on GCs, but everytime I try to buy some, something happens & I miss out. I just can't afford $370 shipped for new GCs right now. :(

S-techs!!

Thanks mx3ownzj00 for the chart and information. Bought some Tein S-Techs based on it and other information from the forums. Loving the look and feel of the new springs.

Thanks again.

I have a question about the Tein Coilovers: Basic vs. SS.

They both show the same dampening rates, but the SS is adjustable. Is it adjustablbe both ways (softer and stiffer) or just stiffer?

you can adjust the shock dampening to a softer or firmer setting. don't confuse the spring rate with shock dampening characteristics though. you can't adjust the spring rate.

ok...can you explain the difference between spring rates and dampening? I'm still a newb about suspension.

Too tired to do math, but here:

1kg=2.2lbs
1in=24.5mm

Edit: I've been thinking about it, and I just had to try the calculation. where are you getting anything that has 450kg/mm??? cause that translates to somewhere in the neighborhood of 25000lbs/in. WTF are we talking about here??

ya it didnt make sence -- thats why i asked -- must be a type-O

maybe they ment 450lbs not kg
but if 1kg=2.2lbs -- then
450kg x 2.2 = 990 lbs ?

(yippy) i figured it out -- woot

if it says 7kg/mm
times the 7 by 55.996 to get what lbs/in is
7x55.996= 392

i have skunk2 springs, which are 8kg/mm or about 450 lbs/in...which is pretty stiff for a 2700-lb car

Yep, I'll try to do another update soon. Things have been quite busy in my neck of the woods lately =/

does anyone know whether the eibach sportline's are progressive or linear....also their spring rates? how about intrax spring rates?

Update on Sportlines

Eibach Sportlines- Progressive Front & Rear
FSR= 143-183 lb/in
RSR= 91-126 lb/in

I contacted Eibach earlier this morning. I wanted to complete my research before I purchased them.
