Spotted - 2009 Mazda 6!

I can't really tell from those spy shots, but is the 6 going to have Bi-Xenons like the Acura TL?

Looks like Mazda will continue the same basic shape as the 4 door 3. Personally I think they're taking styling cues from some pretty sexy piers: aka Maserati. I know it doesn't look exactly like the Maseratis but you can't deny the curves are very similar to what Mazda's been doing with the 3 4 door and now the 2008 6- espcially around the rear quarter panels and midsection of their main models- less the MC12 :-).

Also Jaguar

There's a new spyshot that gives a better profile of the new 6, however it doesn't show the front clip, but I was right the tail lights do share some similarities with the CX-9.

The point a gentleman makes about the new 6 having lines similar to the Jag is also accurate. Mazda has to be building the sexiest Japanese cars on the road today.

By the cut outs of camouflage for the rear doors, I think the doors are similar to the Mazda 3, but just a stretched out one.

If the new 6 looks like a streched 3, I don't think I'm going to be happy. Still I'll reserve all judgement until I see the final product.

Yea, I noticed the differences of the location of the license plates. Maybe the Euro testing prototype is a hatchback? The grills are different too, looks like the US prototype might be a sport model? As that how the current generation's sport grill looks like with a bar running in the middle.

However both look like they retain the same shape with a sloping roofline.

I also can't help noticed how the Ford Mondeo and the new 6's shapes look so similar.

I don't know why I'm so excited for this re-design. Maybe its because I'm such a big fan of the current model. Its a sensible car ala a camry or accord, but much more fun to drive and about 30x better looking. Now if Mazda would just offer the base models with AWD like ford does with the fusion, I'll be perfectly content.

I wonder if the new Mazdaspeed6 for 2009 will be any different? Aside from any usual fascia and body paneling changes (inside and out) will it be heavier, lighter, perhaps more power? or less? People are already running mid 13s on stock speed6s. I'll be interested in how the 2009 model turns out. The Mazda6 being offered with AWD sounds interested too, as an American car. My gf's 2005 6 is fun to drive, but I still at times wish it was AWD, LOL.

probably wont see an ms6 in 09. mazda tends to wait until a couple years before a redesign to launch a 'speed version.

True, I was just going by what the first post said, since there won't be a MS6 in 2008 until 2009, probably be the same car and won't get a redesign til 2010 or 2011....... not that it matters much, by the time my warranty is up I'll be working on modifying the car.

2007 Mazdaspeed6 or wait til 2008?

I am strongly considering buying a 2007 Mazdaspeed6. There are about 15 GT models without Navigation system (this is what I want) in my area. It meets my requirements of 4-doors, AWD, serious power, and fun to drive.

O.K. guys I have a question for you:

Should I buy the 2007 Mazdaspeed6 or wait to see if the 2008 Mazda 6 has something that rivals the 2007 MS6?

It doesn't sound like the 2008 Mazda 6 will have anything with that kind of power, and no manual transmission. And if I want a Mazdaspeed model it sounds like I will have to wait until late 2009 (at the earliest).

What would you do?

Based of speculation, and the fact the new mazda6 loks similar in shape to the Ford Mondeo, and the mazda6 v6 uses the ford power plant and how ford owns about 44% of Mazda...... I'd say the new mazda6 isn't really going to have anything in terms of AWD, so I doubt it would rival the mazdaspeed6, and there's a good chance there won't be a 2009 MS6...... so you'd be waiting til 2010......

I guess it all matters on what you can afford, because the 2008 mazda6 will probably be cheaper than a 2007 MS6....

I'm betting that the top of the line 6 will have AWD. Just wait and see.

I'll believe it when I see it, but I doubt it...... the cars are heavy enough as is. they don't need the added weight of the AWD
