sport vs GT

For me the clincher was this.

The sport seat fabric collects a whole lot of lint, I could not stand it.

Went GT just because of that.

Went 08 because I didnt like the piano black or alcantera either.

The piano black makes me crazy, I am constantly wiping off the fingerprints and dust! (but it looks nice)

to each his own, of course. For me, the only thing I might have found significantly worthwile on the GT was the Xenon headlights, and they weren't worth $2k. Leather seats here in FL just don't last due to the extreme heat- they will dry & crack. Rain sensing wipers? No thanks. I don't even want auto A/C. I like to control things like that myself. (I'm weird that way) Bose sound? I'm planning to replace my head unit anyhow, so that'd be pointless. LED tails would be nice, but not something I will lose sleep over not having.

If you think you'd WANT those items, it's not a total rip-off to pay $2k more for them. Just depends on what YOU want from the car. I decided to skip the extras & get an extended warranty & gap insurance with my $2k. (Or slightly less, actually)

I love my '09 Sport. Since I don't spend a lot of time licking or groping my dashboard, I don't find the piano black to be a hassle to keep clean. I think it looks fantastic. Like all my cars, I keep a clean, dry rag in the glove box & it takes just a few seconds to wipe the dash down.

Assuming they don't cut the '09 production run off after a half year, you ought to be able to get an MS3 until next Spring/Summer. I would imagine they have to have another model on tap for '10, though.

One suggestion, though... if you have a friend who is a crazy cat lady, do NOT let her sit in the cloth seats. Holy &*$#, did I spend some time cleaning the $&(#ing cat hair out of my passenger's seat this weekend... Oi vey! From now on, when we go out, SHE drives.

really the GT options i don't think is worth 2k, for the lights i was just gonna buy better ones. God so freaking hard to decided and if i have till like next summer that would be AMAZING

The leather, HID's, and LED tails would be the only reason I would get a GT (forget the blose stereo and nav). I couldn't justify the $3k difference my dealer had between the GT and the Sport.

I had very nice aftermarket leather in my Protege5. It was nice, but I don't miss it that much when I press the gas pedal in my MS3. I bought this car mostly for performance. I can't consider it a luxury car by any means.

GT has a lot of nice stuff for the price. Xenons, HID's, Leather (partial), BOSE 7 speaker + sub, trip computer, and rain sensing wipers for $1,800.00 isn't bad at all IMO.

All of them have the trip computer, you just got turn it on in the sport model. I looked at a GT but got a sport. I don't like leather interiors, HID's can be added later, sure the LED tails are nice, but those didn't matter to me. Take the money you will save in getting the sport model and invest in some go fast goodies.

The 08.5 and 09 Sports do not have an unlockable trip computer. You would have to find a deck from an 08 or 07 on ebay in order to add the trip computer to these cars.

Oh and don't forget all that s*** is covered under warranty. The Xenons on the GT are also adjustable BTW :)

Sounds like you should get the GT if your even pondering it this long. I went straight for the sport with no questions or regrets. I hate leather, especially the cheap leather used in the Mazda, the LEDs are nice, but I dont see them so who cares. The seats were a big issue for me I guess. I just wish I had the 8.5-09 all black seats from the sport model with the dash trim of the 07-08.

Funny, bjjer, I want just the opposite in my sport. I want the black/gray seats with the trim of the 08.5/09.

The GT interior is far nicer than the sport. In that you spend all of your time while driving on the INSIDE of the car, the interior is an important factor IMHO...

I bought the sports ms3 08.5 without hesitation. I really dont like the looks of the alcantra seats with that little leather on it (but to most people here they like the alcantra alot, so dont get me wrong). Sports vs GT dont have much of a diff on looks. They look exactly about 90% the same from outside and inside! LED tail lights is the only diff on it on exterior, no extra decals or whatsoever like GT. As for the seats, both seats looks exactly the same just for GT it has added little leather around the design. I was lucky the sports model non leather is all black. It looks way better than the previous grey combination black. (This is more cosmetic visibility on my comparison above) As for the sounds and other stuffs thats a different case.

I just cant roll in the extra 2000 to 3000 usd thru my APR financing for the GT. I always think that those other stuffs can be bought slowly outside without getting ripped off (smash) by the extra 2k to 3k that is going in with my interest rates.

*Adjustable Xenons aren't on the sport

Also, it's not 2-3k more, it's like $1,750.00 or about $15 -$20 bucks a month plus it's covered under the new car warranty unlike the s*** you buy from the outside. Oh almost forgot, resale will be slighly higher on a GT model as well.

I dont think it would be only 20 bucks more. How can that be 20 bucks more only with APR interest. 20 bucks x 60 payments is only 1200 usd. Not even close to 1750 or 2k. And thats not with the APR interest. So i dont know how can it that be just little. I remember I got quoted with a big difference on monthly between sports and gt. :)
