Spooling vs Flying???

the jspec intake and the mazdaspeed exhaust cam. i'm not saying they are going to take 1 second off your 1/4 mile time. they definally help. i have noticed the pull in my car. especially onramps.no more flat power on top. i'm am very satisfied. i would rather have these cams then installing headers. then reason i installed those cams was my future turbo kit.

I don't see a stock Protege5 running low 16s. Even with a good driver. I ran a 16.4 with an extra person in the car. I was happy with that. I have an AEM intake and some 16x7" rotas with Kumhos. I'm happy with it for now, but eventually it will have to be turbo'd or its going to another home.

let me see here
if YOU ran a 16.4 with another person in the car then what do you mean you cant run low 16's with a good driver:confused:
not to sound ignorant but didnt you prove the point to be correct from what you posted
any way if you can rig the VICS to open at 3000rpm like a buddy of mine you can achive high 15's
he made the computer go to open loop at WOT after 3000RPM, open the secondaries and that was the best he could do stock 15.7

hey... how did your buddy rig the VICS to open at 3000 rpm, and the rest of what you said. ;)

we have a module that we are in the process of testing and using in various vehicles
once we know that we can controll the timing corectly and accuratley on the proteges ( both advance and retard ) then we can market this item.
the module cancontrol three different drivers . one was for the o2 sensor monitoring and relaying info, the other was thru the MAF and the next was the solenoid for the VICS setup
theres alot more to it but basically you can control the opening of the throttles plates and fuel control thru a piggy back and various driver controls.
i am also still learning about the system but as soon as the end of the month when i have it implemented in my car wiht the turbo set up ill let you know more of how it workd

awesome!!!:D so it will be compatible with and agressive turbo setup? spool turob setup i'm doing is going to be a little more agressive than the standard kit. so anything more that'll help would be greatly appreciated! So basiclly the VICS is individule plates located in the intake runners? So being said your module will control those plates via "ECU" along with throttle butterfly, and fuel managment to open more @ higher RPM's.

Let me know when you get more info on it!

it can control your fuel injectors , maf and vics on a turbo aet up
thats what we are working on now.
but we decided to upgrade the MAF so that it is compatible to a turbo and dont have to control the signal bieng sent to the ecu
that extra driver is going to control timing retard for boost

I have the intake and exhaust cams with my turbo and it pulls quite nicely, although it doesn't really kick in till about 5000rpms, and what it does is launch the car and make the needle go so fast that it's hard to not hit the rev limiter. It's a nice boost, I remember when I first got the turbo put in my brother thought it boosted at 5k, it's very noticable. In first gear the front end can break loose once in a while in hard accleration around 5k.

HEY afrey2002!! nice pics man. how many lbs. of boost are you running??

SORRY FOR OFF THE TOPIC!

question bout your Ground Control. When you installed them did you remove the plastic bushing. my GC clicks everytime I hit the brakes. Any issues with your??

thanks!

The jdm cams are not that much better than stock. Intake has like 5 more degree's duration or something, same lift. Dunno about exhaust.

i have heard reports that both cam jspec intake cam and mazdaspeed exhaust cam can give you 12 HP! total:eek:

Thanks, I'm running 6psi right now. I just got my new rods last week so I might be pushing a little more, but not until it's safe. As for the suspension, are you talking about the rubber stoppers? If so you were soposed to cut it in half. I don't have any clicking coming from the ground control, I do from the sway bar though. One of the links up front broke, but it only makes a sound going over bumps really slow.

Equinox your wrong a civic si does a stock 15.7 with a good driver maybe a 16 with an alright driver. check it out for yourself www.angelfire.com/pa3/ford/performance1.htm and look at 1999 civic si coupe.

that's practically what I said... do you hate me or something?

All you did was change your definition of good driver. By good driver, I just mean a kid with his SI that has been to the track a couple times and knows what they are doing. To get a 15.7 out of a stock civic, you better be drag racing for car and driver. That's professional. Why the hell are you picking on the little tiny ass details, I was only trying to say, no matter the resonable mods I do, I will at best be AS fast as a STOCK HONDA CIVIC SI. Which to me, is sad. Ie.... I need a turbo.

16.0 is what my friend runs consistently at the track in his SI, that's all that matters to me in this subject. I don't race car and driver, I race my friend.

no prob! no, it's not the bump stops. it's the black bearing between "Upper Spring Seat" and the "Mounting Rubber". The bearing got all torn a part on both sides. I'm sure I put it all together just right. I had to take it apart because GC said it was the spring poping. Just checking!
thanks

well your friend is an alright driver like i said doing 16.0 your an alright driver dont be so mad all im saying is that a good driver would do stock times and you said good drivers could only "maybe" do 16.0.
