i read the unichip forum, and it seems like people are having trouble tuning their chips..
so i was wondering who is running split Second AFC?

and..which chip to all of your prefer?

how do you install split second?s it like unichip installation?

two threads today about this topic - deja vu!

the unichip has a few advantages to it - its plug and play. it has a built in boost controller. there are things that i don't like about the unit. it cannot run larger injectors, period - we've tried and i've dealt with three other shops who have tried. it is not end user tunable. it still relies on the MAF sensor and is therefore still prey to the pitfalls of that sensor. there is plenty of material out there on the forums where people still get fuel cut, cannot tune it for larger injectors or have spotty boost control with it. there are people who use it and love it. is it a system i would use with basic bolt ons and the factory fuel system? yes. is it something i would use reliably to control larger injectors, radically retard timing for big boost or bigger turbos and a built motor? no.

its no mystery that we like to sell and support the split second. in fuel only trim its cheaper than a unichip, and with timing retard its on par pricewise with a unichip. it uses a MAP sensor to make adjustments, acts as a reliable fuel cut defender, is user tunable, it can control larger injectors, can control when the car goes in and out of open/closed loop, and can datalog with a wideband. its not plug and play, it does not have built in boost control and it cannot control extra/additional injectors.

ultimately, both of the above systems are piggybacks with the limitations there in. both will pass emissions. if you're looking to build something 300whp+ then a standalone may be more in order, but thats a different conversation for a different thread.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

small update - spoke with JDM Sam tonight and he may have gotten 440s to work to some degree on the unichip. He is going to keep me posted on whether or not this is 100%, and if so i'll edit my post to reflect that.

does anyone have a used split second they might wana sell me?

same here. i also want a split second..
and also, does anybody have installation pictures?..
i mean, im fixing my msp right now, im in the process of pulling out the engine and tranny with the wire harness.. =[.. and well, im looking to get my mazda back on the road soon..and looking to install some bolt ons while the engine is out...

hmmmm...sure.^^^

im looking at split second and i was wondering if i can run ten psi with a fmic and intake?..
i dont have a turbo back..

if that is the case mazda speed, deff. get the ssafc. you can run the superstock map and you probably wouldnt even have to make changes. if you do, they would be minor and easy to do.

I am running 8 psi with RC440's. With custom FMIC. But I have a MAM 2 1/2 S&J pipe. So it can be done. Just get the car tuned.
