Any ideas for how to remove the speed limiter for my car? I hit 119 in 4th and it stops me, gotta whole nother gear to go through. My setup is injen cold air intake magnaflow cat and cat-back exhaust progressive technology spring and rear sway bar. One more thing anyone know where i can find intake manifolds and exhaust headers for the car? Last what kind of engine management system should i use? I almost forgot, what about the throttle body where can i find one?

You ask to many questions.

Check here Draxas

-Speed limiter stops at 117-not sure how to remove yet
-Corksport.com-intake manifold designed for Ford that is "compatible" for our car...(no one is willing to confirm or not)
-Headers are in developement by Draxas (only one making that i know of so far)
-engine management----aem???????? not really sure about this one

aight as soon as I get the money I'm buying the cosworth intake manifold to see if it is true... if not I gues I'll look like a idiot. but yea I have been trying to find out if the headrers from a focus could also fit (the flanges)....

about the engine management I hope the truth about draxas is right bc I believe they are the only ones designing it so far... but yea if you really can't wait you can get a full engine management tuner like AEM's or ALtech's... at least you can change your fuel and map everything yourself but have fun spending 5g's

Why do you need to go about 117mph? Even with those mods you aren't going to hit 117 on a track.

Unless of course you are going 117mph on the highway :(

just the fact you can go fast and maybe get it past the 160 mark would be real fun...

i'm going to agree with jersey emt. unless your racing there really is no need to go faster than that. sure its fun but if you got caught, game over nor more license for you.

Let me just say i top out my car everynight on the way home, and i haven't had one ticket since i've had my licence. But if you can't handle the speed it can be deadly. I mean if people are in my car i don't drive like that. Anyway thanks for the info about the other stuff.

Cen.bucks county, pa about 1/2 hour from philly. Yes its illegal yes its dangerous, and yes i could get arrested, but its not illegal if you don't get caught. On top of that I know where the cops sit and i know where i can go fast and where i can't. 117 in a 45 sounds fun to me.

How old are you man? How much experience do you have racing cars where you can "handle the speed"? Well s***, you don't need racing experience, you're in a $18,000 Mazda econo-box.

I got some news for you man, it's not about you, and it's not about getting a ticket. It's about the family coming home from the hospital with the new baby that you might kill when you blow a tire going 120 mph. Trust me man, I used to be the same way; "How can I get my top speed up? I don't race on a track, I just love goin fast!" But then I got b**** slapped by life. I got caught goin 122 mph, and I've spent every day since regretting it. When I got out of jail and paid nearly $1000 in fines, I had to quit my job not only because I had no way of getting there without a licence, but I had over 120 hours of community service to do.

But even through the punishments that were mandated to me, the one thought kept coming back to me; if I had had a tire blow out, or a tie rod break, or a wheel bearing lock up, or anything like that that would have nothing to do with being able to "handle the speed", I could have KILLED people. I could have ruined dozens of other peoples lives and spent years in jail. For a little thrill.

I'm not trying to be an ass, I'm just trying to make you realize what it took me too long to realize, that that kinda speed is not worth it at all! Go skydiving or something, it's a much bigger rush! AND it's much safer!

On s lighter note, I think that Ken from Protegegarage.com has some header options for the 3. You might wanna check it out.

Be safe,

Miller

Or take it to the track and top it out....everyone hear wants to go super fast, but it's true...You could be the best driver in the world..but things happen that are out of your control...at 90mph the things he mentioned would be disasterous, hell some of them even at 70, maybe somewhat manageable...or at least survivable if lucky....but at that speed there's just no way out alive....glad me & my family are 1500+miles from where you drive...not tryign to be a dick either, but cmon let's be real here...

just to give you another prespective,,

do you realize at that speed you are actually moving at 171 feet per SECOND.

Racing experiance, i've been racing since i was 8 years old, i'm 22 btw. I know what your saying, i have a family, a wife, 2 kids. i know what your saying, but i only drive that speed late at night coming home from work when there's nobody on the road. As far as handling stuff you don't expect- i've blown out a tire at 150(pocono speedway) when i was racing. I know when i can do stuff and when its just stupid. Obviously i'm not driving that fast when there's traffic on the road, thats just stupid. And as far as every night, thats a little bit of an exageration. Probably about once every 2 weeks. But seriously i know whats stupid and i know whats not.

i'm just saying you're lucky. if i ever broke 80 in southern maryland (where i live) cops like "6th sense" kicks in and one will ALWAYS show up. Route 4 (pennslyvania avenue) is highly patroled. it sucks.

I can't imagine why.

Nycon, I still say it's a bad idea, but that post made it look very different form your first few. And remember man, no matter how fast you're going when you blow out a tire in a race car, it's gonna be a little bit different in a japanese econo-box.

lol penslyvania avenue (route 4) goes from the white house all the way down to saint mary's county (close to 80 miles or more) i live about half way down it.
