Speed 6 Turbo Seals

back to bone stock with no smoke issue (visible that is) the funny thing is that the car actually feels quicker....maybe its me and the noise thing...but next service I may just mention that I had to add two quarts of oil and a funny smell...hehe maybe wipe a little oil in the inside of exducer plumbing for good measure.......... kidding.....maybe :)

Yeah I am bone stock because I just got it. I am lucky that I got it so right now I am just soaking it in.

06 speed6 with 17xxx miles, smokes only when i'm pushing it.

proper cool down and warm up is a MUST for these cars.

Also asked a mazda tech about synthetic oil, he said its too thin, our cars needs a thicker oil thats why he puts regular in, i forgot what brand and thickness tho..

What oil you guys put in?

16k miles no smoke i have tried to let the car cool down everytime i shut it off for atleast 30 mins i have cai/bov/magnaflow and use 5w30 mobil 1

I have had 3 turbo's replaced by mazda and all have smoked! 27,000Km's Just a matter of time till it shows it's ugly head. I use a turbo timer also.

I am new here, but wanted to chime in about the oil. I come from a VW Pasast with 1.8T kinda bizzare for a front wheel drive vehicle but it the engine is longitudinal to do this it only got a 3.7qt oil pan. They are notorious for causing the oil to turn to sludge and its very expensive to fix. People use full synethic 15-40w oil religiously to prevent the sludge build up, I believe its more resistant to the heat and rigors of a turbo application. The oil is labeled as "Turbo Diesel" application and is approved by VW standards which i believe is rare.

However, im under warranty and im just going to stick with 5-30w full synethic moble1 (that 15-40 is also more expensive)

i'd like to chime in here......i have a 07 wit just under 8,000 miles on it...jus got my corksport dp installed and about 200 miles later...helloooo smoke screeen...and i have the main cat still in place. just the Cs Dp and cat-back. i have always let my car cool down after any drive and have always waited about 10-15 min. for warm up...seems like its not even worth it to replace the seals, or the stock turbo. thinkin im jus goin to have 2 go aftermarket. mazda will neva learn

i have an 06 speed6 with 12k.
i have the ets top mount and corksport cat back with no cat.
i'll puff smoke only every once in a while during and after i've driven it hard (autoX)

i asked my friends to take a look and let me know when it smokes if it does at all...
they all said a little puff on take off, then all through out the course, no smoke.

i don't know what to think anymore.
i've since then stopped autoXing my car, and drive it nicely everyday.

i'll just wait till someone makes a similar or same size turbo to directly replace the stocker.

now the car smokes when idling after i've been gassing it....(sad1)

smoking tailpipes...

My car is not consuming oil yet....but on a few occasions i have been stopped in a drive thru and noticed my tail pipes are smoking a bit....for a 2007 car that is not good

Hey Guys, Just got mine back from the dealer tonight because mine smoked. Bone stock 06 GT with 43K miles on it. Dealer did a leak down test yadda yadda. was leaking like 60% through cylinder 2 I think. They replaced the turbo. I have always ran Mobil 1 full synthetic. It's definitely not the oil. It's just bad seals. This dealer hadn't replaced a speed6 turbo yet because of this problem, so hopefully they did it right. Oh well my warranty is up soon so hopefully this turbo will last a while longer.

our turbo uses a free floating seal that releases from it's seat without the backpressure of the stock exhaust. sounds stupid, cuz it is and no other way around it.
